In games where DoDo scores in double figures we are 8-0, when he doesn't, 5-10. This is after, what is hopefully, his resurgence in the Clemson game. There are plenty of stats to look at, but this one to me is huge. With as many minutes as he has been getting, he's got to put up points for us to win.

JIM! Don't you listen to those announcers- I DID NOT CRAP MYSELF WHEN THE PA AT VIRGINIA TECH STARTED PLAYING ENTER SANDMAN! WAIT, WHAT? UVA IS COMING TO TOWN THIS YEAR? (Awkward pause...weird plopping noise) Oops! I did it again! Man those VA teams make me rethink this whole coaching thing....gotta get new pants everytime we play them!

That was exactly what I was thinking! It would've been perfect with a single tear running down his cheek. Man I would love to have a thought bubble around that guy's head!

Al Golden: "Oh my God what have I gotten myself in to? These people ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT THEIR FOOTBALL TEAM?!?!?! AMAZING- THEY ACTUALLY SELL OUT THEIR STADIUM! What is one to do against this? Well, Jacory, just go ahead and check down so we can get the hell out of this terror dome....I am truly frightened."

OR the time tried favorite: "Oh S&$t, what did I do?" look.

Total and complete terror on his face... in that moment he knew that the Hokies are gods among men, and he was waaaaaaaay out of his league

The terms "quarterback" "fullback" and "halfback" are T formation terms. For an I, I think the correct term is leadback and I back or Tailback.

Most of it is just semantics. Everyone understands that running back, halfback, tailback, etc are all terms for your primary ball carrier. Fullback is a lead blocker who gets occassional carries and catches passes.
The last guy I can remember being a true fullback who got as many carries in a true T formation as a fullback who then became successful in the NFL was Jerome Bettis. NFL offenses certainly were more interesting to watch then with fullback/tailback combos like Franco Harris-Rocky Blier, Jim Taylor-Paul Hornung, Larry Csonka-Mercury Morris, or Jim Bown-Bobby Mitchell. All the sweeps, traps, tosses with guards pulling and counters to counters with the potential for different ball carriers is a thing of beauty to watch. As the NFL and college passing games become more sophisticated, the running games become less creative each year. Even something that looks innovative like Clemson's offense is just a spread out Single-Wing from the 1930's.

I feel like Fuller will move back to CB, but then again that depends on how JGW bounces back from his injury. Chris Hill and Bonner both got some decent snaps later in the season after Foster moved Fuller to whip for Georgia Tech and UNC. However when Hosely went out in the ACCCG and Bonner came in, it was rough going for him against Watkins.

We should have a contest, whoever can correctly predict the depth chart for the first game gets tacos.

With a few more pounds, he would be the ideal size as a fullback. If he's truly a RB, he should have the speed and vision to be a really good FB. If he's got hands, even better.

However, VT does need an inside LB after Tyler graduates, and Wright is the only LB in this class with size.

Since I've brought up the subject, I've always had this question... If the you consider the I-formation, it goes quarterback-fullback-halfback. So, the QUARTERback is 1/4 of the way back. The FULLback is 1/2 the way back. And the HALFback is all the way back. Shouldn't we call the "all the way back" the fullback and the 1/2 back the "halfback?" Am I missing something here? Does anyone know the origin of the nomenclature?

How many snaps has the 2-deep in the secondary played? Exum is a starter at rover, but who is the #2? Boye will likely start at FS, but pretty much has no experience and no established #2. Bonner will be one CB and Fuller could be the other, if someone can step up and play whip. Jarrett has the most experience as back up, but getting burned play after play against Clemson in the ACCCG isn't very assuring. No other CB has experience.

If Fuller ends up at whip, and Manning beats out Jarrett, he could be the starter. Even if Fuller plays corner, he could wind up playing nickle. The only way Manning would redshirt is if Fuller moves back to CB, Jarrett and Farrow get in the 2-deep, and nobody gets injured.

Marcus was a QB turned WR. Although we was first tried out as a QB, he was pretty quickly turned into a WR. However, for all the raw talent he has, it has taken him a long while to learn the position. And to be honest, Marcus Davis could be a much better WR. He still needs to work on a few things: adjusting to the ball on deep routes, coming back to the ball on out and in routes, and getting the ball at the highest point. If he puts it all together this season, he'll be an NFL receiver.

My point is this, Caleb could make a quick transition, or he may be more like Marcus. We don't really know until the Fall, and I think there's a good chance he'll redshirt. F Beamer has made a point of getting WR ready players that can play early. That's why Beamer is really high on Irick and Stanford.

Chris Drager was from western PA and Kyshoen Jarrett, Drew Harris and Jack Willenbrock are all from eastern PA. Your point stands though, there's a lot of talent from that region, and playing Pitt will help us tap into it. Our future is bright. Back in the day Penn State made a living off of recruiting Virginia Beach and Pennsylvania. Going forward we'll have prominent exposure in both areas, located almost equidistant between the two. It's going to get (more) fun.

On beamerball.com when asked before the Sugar Bowl who would be a star that time next year several of the defenders said Michael Holmes, raving about his vision and burst. I live near Harrsonburg and the kid is an absolute star in these parts.

I think we're in good hands

Blue Collar- do you know by any chance if Caleb had any reluctance about red shirting? I haven't seen much on his preferences but I figured one big reason he came to VT is that we put WR's and (if he has to make the switch) DB's in the NFL; however, I was unsure about Caleb's desires.

I think Jerome Wright will be a linebacker. I believe he is grey-shirting as well.

Edmunds will be on D at backer or whip (I am hoping whip.)

Come fall, I think Harris redshirts unless his knee is 100%.He is defintely the guy who could be the next big time back, but I would be stunned if Beamer uses two true freshmen in the running back rotation and the injury makes his choice for him.

Coleman and Holmes will get most of the carries, with Gregory taking the role of John Candelas. Coleman would not have enrolled early unless they are sure he will be in the two deep this year. I don't have a bunch of film, but based on what I did watch, Coleman looks much more impressive as a high schooler than Holmes did. At the same time, all I saw after Wilson announced he was leaving were tweets from Hokie players saying how good Holmes was. Does anyone have any feedback on how he looked while redshirting?

Caption under the second picture....has the look of a kid who crapped his pants. I used it as a metaphor to describe his coaching and recruiting practices.
