When Kyle was recruited, he committed pretty early in July. If Kendall makes a similar move, the impact on the 2013 Hokie class will be huge.

Also, the longer he waits to commit, I think the more likely he goes somewhere else. He already has 17 offers, including Florida, FSU, OSU, and OU. The list is only going to get longer. If he wants to go to VT, he already knows. He knows the school, he knows the players, he knows the coaches, and he knows VT puts DBs into the NFL (Vincent already there and Kyle will be the next great DB to be drafted, hopefully in 2 years not 1). His family is obviously pro-Hokie, so unless he wants to be different, carve his own path sort of thing, he'll probably commit early. He's VT's recruit to lose, and if they lose him, it won't be their fault, it'll be because Kendall wanted something else. But if they lock him up early, VT gets a major recruiter on their side and the Fuller legacy lives on.

I think is a really great year to have a selective recruiting class. There's a lot of talent in Virginia, although we're going to really have to rely on out of state offensive lineman to get to the 5 or 6 we need.

Anybody have any idea who may commit early? Last year we started strong and I loved how JC Coleman's early commitment helped bring in more quality players.

$1-$2 million may not seem like a lot compared to SEC, Pac-12, and B1G money, but when so many athletic departments are running in the red, that'll be a nice shot of revenue for ACC schools.

That key will be improving ACC football in the next 5-10 years, that's the only way we're going to be able to compete with the BigTen/Pac-12 and the SEC. (The Pac-12 & BigTen might as well be the same conference at this point - they do everything in lock-step.)

You accidentally left #72 Holland Fisher off your list.

the Rivals 100. 7 players on the list. I don't think I've ever noticed VA represented so well. Looks like Beamer and co. will have great challenges to keep them in state.

Interesting, Ryan Burns, the top QB in VA and #4 in the country, has not received an offer from VT. I guess VT has their reasons, and we'll see where their token Bucky Hodges charts in the top 250 tomorrow. In general, I trust VT's player evaluation over Rivals, so let's hope Beamer and co. are right in this case as well.

Coale is taller, heavier and faster. Welker in college averaged 11.8 ypc; Coale averaged 16.1 ypc. I know they were in different offenses so it isn't a pure apples-to-apples comparison but Welker's never been a downfield threat. He's a slot guy, while Coale in college was always wide open down the field. There's only one reason why Coale would get compared to Welker.

It's going to be fun to see what Shane, Brown and the rest of the coaches can do with a full recruiting cycle to work with.

WR's need to know how to block well downfield....something Davis has struggled with at times. Danny Coale was one of the best I've seen at that. Caleb will need to learn it too.

I like the term! Very fitting...maybe the Frankenator installs a ACWL award after the spring game....this kid should win the inaugural award. I'd love to see this kid destroy the GT kick returner on Labor Day.

The other problem is if Greenberg leaves can we land a coach that will honestly take us to the next level? It is sad but true that when thinking of a destination as a basketball coach Va Tech isnt what most guys look for. We have 2 super great kids coming in next year that will really compliment the young players we already have. i dont want to be that guy but NEXT YEAR is really going to be something.

I think this class has a few very good potential WRs. I really like the upside from all of the true WRs.

Also, we are all assuming Caleb will be a WR but I am not sold 100% yet that he doesn't end up as a safety. I bet we give him the chance to work as a WR because that's what he wants but that doesn't mean he stays there. From much of what I have read and seen on film, he is one heck of a defensive player and a very good tackler/hitter. I am sure he gets some early looks at WR but if he doesn't pick things up quickly, he may redshirt and work as a safety. Remember, Logan wanted to be a TE but we all see how that worked out!

cbssports.com projects James Brooks and Eddie Whitley to get drafted. 6th round and 4th-5th round respectively. Whitley is listed as the 5th FS pick. These guys are definitely under the radar.

cbs also projects Boykin and Coale as 7th round/FA, Wilson as #3 RB (2nd round). Jayron as 2-3 round.

No others currently projected to be drafted.

I agree that Rivals probably does well with predicting the top talent. Very similar to the ranking polls of teams. At the end of the day you really do know who should be in the top five to 10. Even though the top recruiting classes don't always equate to wins and top ten rankings they are usually pretty good predictors. It is all about statistics. Like the stock market, past performance is not a guarantee of future performance. But Blue Chips are likely to perform well. What can't be predicted is the star performer that is undervalued.

I think what makes a difference for VT is we recruit guys that are highly motivated and we do a good job developing them. This is a reflection of CFB's personality. We do a good job of consistently having competitive winning teams ranking in the 10-15 range. Ocassionaly we have a year or two where we are as good as top 5. This doesn't mean we can always match up against teams like Alabama or LSU. But with some luck we will have a great year when it all comes together. We are much better than most teams. To do that year after year says something. We are knocking at the door but we need to break it down.

Never know how the draft will turn out. Boykin has many good catches as well and is #1 on the VT receving lists. Just depends what teams are looking for.

At least we have March Madness coming up... Can't wait to fill out that bracket and see how wrong I am.

on Caleb's film, he is one hell of an athlete. He definitely has vision and burst. VT's bubble screen game definitely will improve with him. Here's hoping he does pick up all the attributes to be a great receiver, and if he's able to contribute next year, the better. I hope he does do well, but the next great VT WR may or may not be Caleb. We just don't know. It may be some walk-on ex-Marine...

it's 50/50 .. like i said, i wouldn't be surprised either way if caleb did or didn't RS. i think there's a great chance that jc will not redshirt (75% or more that he won't) .. and i think there may be a fairly decent chance that manning doesn't .. depending on how he's looking.

I hear what your saying about where we were and where we are now. However, where we were is referring to the Stokes era and things hit absolute rock bottom. I was there before Seth came to town and bball was a non-event. Now we're known for having a rowdy homecourt, things have come a long way. But dont you feel just a little that Seth has plateaued?

We're in the ACC now so we should be recruiting better than when we were in the A-10. Look at the players who have come through under Coach Greenburg: Dowdell, Collins, Gordon, Washington, Vasallo, Delaney, and Allen and we only make the tourney once in a decade?

The man knows defense, no question about it, but what is our offensive identity? The only thing that has been consistent has been the mediocrity (except that one year).

It's all a question of what the expectations should be at VT for hoops. We can keep Seth and be a middle of the road ACC team which is of course better than being a bad A-10 or Metro team. Or we can roll the dice and go another route.

But one thing I'm certain of its that with Seth we'll never be awful and we'll never be Sweet 16 good. High basement, low ceiling

sorry to leave ya hangin, havent been on the site in a couple days. . . but yeah i havent seen anything on that either. i did a quick search and came across a thread on a wvu board complaining about all the prospects decommiting or picking other schools so that was pretty funny.

alot of articles seem to think he will redshirt but i found no quote from him

BF3 on PS3? I'll have to send you a friend request next time i get on

It's hard to watch the Sugar Bowl catch but its an appropriate way to end the video, thats the way his career ended. A beautiful catch that was taken away due to an apparent fundamental misunderstanding of the rules.

I think it irks me more than Ryan in the monsoon or Moore in DC because those were on us, this is on the refs. Who knows what would have happened in the 2nd part of OT had they called the play correctly but the way the D was playin. . . Danny Coale was robbed. Hokie Nation was robbed.

Oh well old news
