I'll save judgement on the o-line for another week. They were up against a less experienced, less talented FCS team playing in their first game as a 3-4 defense. They SHOULD absolutely dominate that.

After the member Guest in Ocean City, this will taste really good Saturday night.
Prob will miss the first half of the Hokies...but get to see the Big House under the lights.

Sadly, I have not had a chance to get a good look at the backups. From what little I did see, I feel better about Painter, but I would like to see him against a better pass rush and more stunts. I think Wang is solid, and Nosal better be careful. I am not high on Farris. I would feel much better with Via at both tackle and center. I'd love to see a goalline look of Wang at LG, and Lainer as the 2nd TE

I don't think the ACC drops down to the FCS level to get teams. I know it has happened in a BCS conference before with UConn, but they moved up in football to join the Big East where basketball was already a major power. Also, while the basketball is good in the CAA, there is a "Boise State" factor in which I don't think those teams could hang with a power confernce schedule on a nightly basis. An upset or run is one thing but to compete night in and night out, I think would be a stretch. The only other school that should be considered right now is Navy. They have a above average football team that has been to a bowl every year since 2004 and already has a rival in Maryland. ALso, the lacrosse team would fit in well with the ACC.

No pun intended. OK kind of a little bit.

Who else is heading down to Greenville? Keep an eye out for me and Bruce.

He looks so casual and has that quick release.

For this early in the season anyone could be no.1 or out of the top 25. Still need more proof.

I the poll is a prediction of where teams will finish the year it is way off.

Dominos are wobbling back and forth....

ND isn't going anywhere soon. They're VERY content being the only independent in the land if necessary. The Big 10ish (I like that moniker, btw) has lusted openly for the Irish for years, and I think the Irish like being a tease.

Syracuse was almost an ACC member instead of VT, so I think they're one of the first asked. Rutgers & UConn I think round out the northern expansion. But I think somebody may start looking at our foe this week....ECU. They probably don't fit the academic profile so much either, but they may be a possibility. Another possible choice is South Fla. Pitt would be an ok addition, particularly in basketball.

Pokes in a shootout
ASU: I might pick them based solely on the talent-laden picture, but I saw a bit of the Mizzou game last week....very unimpressive.
Miss ST: the Tigers will be better but it's hard not to be better than they were last week
Ala: Will Saban kneel, kiss JoPa's ring before the game, and then kick his backside?
Hokies pull away in the 2nd half
Utah: I have to pick against the flying kiffins

I'm for it. Looks good and actually a great scenario for VT. While the teams aren't SEC profile, there is a lot of football history there and they are larger schools so a BCS Playoff tie-in seems like a definite. If that's the case, VT stands as good a chance as anyone in winning that conference each year and thus getting a spot in the BCS play-off.

What I am assuming is that with 4 superconfernces, they institute a 4-6 playoff. Maybe 4 BCS super conf winner plus 2 at large? The top two get byes.

I agree Notre Dame is probably not an option. I see them going to the "Big 10-ish" if they choose to have an affiliation. It makes sense for them geographically and they already play alot of those teams a great deal anyways.

I think the most likely options are Rutgers, Pitt, and UCONN. The last two not only bring strong academics but also are good basketball schools that would only help the ACC reclaim what the Big East has developed in basketball over the last decade. Syracuse could be an option as well. But ultimately, I think it all depends on how the Big East reacts to WVU leaving.

Do you think the ACC could end up in a position where they have to go after a CAA team? I am not sure how strong of a position the ACC is in with all the conference shake-ups and I could see them having to try to invite Delaware or some school like that. Delaware is #75 in the US News rankings. Maybe even Richmond?

If we ended up in that North Division we would be in the ACC championship every year for football! Miami would probably be our annual game from the other side if there would still be room in the schedule.
