The ones who drop balls the most...? /s sorta

So sorry y'all are going through that. Please take your time dealing with a difficult circumstance.

Well, I would definitely call that picture special at the very least.

I'd suggest we build a statue if the man if we could get to 30th in 1 season

But damn if this defense is anything worse than probably 30th in the country next year, a good portion of the VT fanbase will be calling for Pry's head

You are right, but at the same time 30th would be an astronomical improvement on where we were with only the Yards per Game not being ranked below 110th, and that was only because our offense was so bad it gave up countless short fields

VT Defense Value (rank)
Opp Points/Game 32.4 (#113)
Opp Yards/Game 399.9 (#84)
Opp Points/Play 0.482 (#117)
Opp Yards/Play 6.0 (#110)
Opp 3D Conv % 46.32% (#124)
Opp 4D Conv % 66.67% (#117)
Opp RZ Scoring % 92.31% (#130)

While it was after football season, the Bio station at Mt. Lake recorded a temp of -30 below one night. I think it was in '86, and I was living on the side of Afton Mt. in Nelson Co. then. We had a temp of -10 and a high of 0 there that cold spell. Of course, nobody would play football in that kind of stuff, but it ain't like Virginia is the deep South or anything. I know folks up north can definitely handle the cold better than southerners, though, and have met Michiganders and Minnesotans walking around in shorts and T shirts, no socks and sandals when it's in the 30s with a stiff wind. I guess it's all relative.

I think people's hearts are getting in the way of their heads a little. It's awkward. Fans wanted a breakup and instead we're in a FWB situationship still.

Get results on the field and all will be forgotten. But damn if this defense is anything worse than probably 30th in the country next year, a good portion of the VT fanbase will be calling for Pry's head (whether it's deserved or not).

Oh me of little faith. Other than the always discussed Wenzel, the ladies showed they can shoot and play some ferocious D when it all comes together. We still had our spells, but the assists and low turnover number really made for a fun game to watch.
Way to go, Hokies!

My wife's brother lives in one of them thar deep dark hollers in West B'God. Built hissef a pole building, no electricity, no running water. He moved there because there were no building codes, and lives what to me would be a miserable existence. Avoid him at all costs, though. He's an absolute waste of carbon.

Man I stayed away from this thread because I could see the negativity coming a mile away and.... Yep

Threads like this convince me that some people aren't happy unless they are miserable all the time. Personally, I think Franklin putting the band back together here with an actual competitive budget deeper in the heart of the region he was always recruiting in a conference much easier to compete in than where he was is like inviting a fox family into the henhouse. Pry proved himself a great DC under Franklin before, absolutely no reason he can't do it again just like how Steve Spagnolo was a terrible head coach but still one of the best DCs in the NFL with the Chiefs.

...Phillip Rivers has come out of retirement once again and has given new optimism to the UNC faithful.

Ummm....that would be interesting to watch.

In case it wasn't abundantly clear how fucking dumb it was to add Cal, Stanford and SMU....

This illustrates that pretty well. I'm still mad about that. It was a ridiculous and short sighted move that realistically has no benefits for any of the teams in the ACC. Frankly I'm surprised and appalled that a majority of the existing institutions even voted in favor of the move.

USF is way too low. They are almost fully funding their house money (aka their team will pull $15m+). Most G5 schools are under $10m for the entire Athletic Dept. Hartline will thrive there bc he will have such an advantage over 80% of the schools they play.

All the coach hires brings me back to many a comment, including myself, saying it may take two hires to get us to the Promise Land. I look at Franklin and his staff's Vandy/PSU body of work, and I am fully confident we will see a large progressive improvement in years 1-2. He and his staff will either get us there in years 3 and beyond or we will be in a position to hire the next Cignetti, which may well be Sumrall down the road.

Bottom line, we are now in the best position to take the next critical step allowing us to regain relevancy in P4 and garner P2 respect. From this standpoint, we hit the HC hire Power Ball.
