The article starts with this:

Dr. Scott Lynch is in Sweden continuing his crusade for medical autonomy for team doctors treating college athletes. But he took time out of his international schedule to weigh in on the firing of the coach with whom he clashed,

What are you doing in Sweden advocating for American College Football players and medical autonomy?

As others have noted there is a huge grey area here. I'm sure Franklin and all coaches are constantly asking for updates on injuries and what the timeline is for recovery. It is one of the single biggest issues they have to deal with during the season. With that said, of course they want them back out there playing. And I'd say the players want to be back out there as well. Anyone that has played much football has played hurt. It's a physical game that, no matter how careful you are, likely has lifelong detrimental effects on your body's well being for most participants.

I feel if it had really been an issue that put the athletes at risk, the athletes in question would have been bringing lawsuits well before now. That said, dont be surprised to see a few lawyers now latch on to this story and look for PSU players during Franklin's tenure that will claim they have life long injuries because they were rushed back too soon.

Don't know to read this as Overton's dad advertising his son to the new RB coach or if this is a pre-advertisement to the portal. Hopefully just trying to showcase his son to the new coach.

Why is he with the Vanderbilt basketball te???....oh wait. That's right. No NFL team is going to waste time on a 5'9" QB.

Odd feeling as the son of VMI '81 and VT '21 myself...

This is a good hire. I think everyone knows at this point the VMI job is impossible. Rocco has won everywhere else he's been and was an analyst at PSU in 2022 when they went 11-2 and won the Rose Bowl. He's responsible for one of James Franklin's 4-5 "big game" wins ever (that's my narrative, anyway).

He started at a P4 school straight out of high school and was immediately a competent P5 QB. He has a ton of upside, but he was not in the best situation in regards to OL and pass catchers at Nebraska.

He would be a great get in the portal, but I'm thinking he ends up at one of the highest QB bidders, like a Miami.

VMI athletics is on its last leg IMO. They are really struggling as a DI school in the modern NIL era, and having no such funding and trying to sell athletes on the military academy aspect and strict rules is a hard task. Honestly I think they should probably bump down to D3 and join the ODAC frankly. Would be a much better fit.
