Mines as little as we have seen from his WR was someone Franklin had targeted several times in the past for his recruiting. Pry, Mines and Moore are the only coaches returning.

The players being okay with Pry, if true, is actually a big relief.
OC yes. Not DC. Franklin landed his top choice for DC and the players okayed it.
Excellent run blocking development. Even Lynch was decent by the end of the year, and the guy who dropped off, Rimac, appeared to be laboring with an undisclosed boo-boo.
Also ensures continuity, and likely keeps Altuner and Ghannam in the program. I'd still like to see a LT, so Garrett can move to RT and perhaps Lynch move inside, but LTs don't grow on trees. They can't shoot too many fish at one time.
Pass pro has to get better. While Allar and his predecessors could run, they aren't going to be a heavy designed QB run offense. They have to give the QB more time. And it was a weakness at WVU too.
We can only hope but I just dont think Duffy will do it. Wenzel right now is that Figurehead player and seen as the leader of the team even when her play is detrimental to the actual results.
I was all for cleaning house 100%, through and through. Franklin keeping so many current coaches has taken the wind out of my sails in regards to my excitement for next year. What happened to having big dawg money to bring in an amazing staff and lots of them? Then we rehire Pry so we have even more money for staff, and we're still keeping people around. These aren't Franklin's guys that came to VT with Pry.
Moore is exempt from this. OL needs continuity.
So we landed our coach, but got big dogged on coordinators?
My coaches always said "if you can touch it, then you can catch it"
I agree. I don't like this at all. James, buddy....what are you doing?
Not just St James but most of the nationally relevant prep schools and the WCAC in DC thanks to Brooks background at Dematha.
I agree...
This should absolutely be the mentality. As a former coach (It was high school, so not nearly the same level) you teach, coach, practice - over and over and over again - but there's only so much development you can do with a particular position if the overall ethos of the team/program is not good and if the one thing that helps that group be a success is an epic failure at every level (the QB to WR relationship).
You know, my thought process about Mines is largely the same as everyone else. Great recruiter, but can he develop his guys? That seems to be in question atm. I'm willing to bet that James Franklin has seen the same and has pushed his "lets recruit the hell out of the WR position" chips to the center of the table in anticipation that an elite WR corps can overcome any development shortcomings. Either that or Mines really is a great coach and simply hasn't been able to help his guys overcome the things I've mentioned.
Win the ones you should! FAM.
Asking my connected GT fam and friends if this is good news or bad news for us. Will report back.
Update - BIL (not #sauced but super well informed) says:
We've had pretty good rb production but Jamal Haynes did regress this year and rb recruiting wasn't as good. So probably in between lol
Not going to pry him away.
I see what you did there....
I have to wonder when Suffern is going to start stealing more minutes from Carleigh. She has been on fire between steals and actually making shots.
This seems good overall. Maybe Brooks played a part in our rushing success the last two years but I'd put more of that on the RBs
I think this has more to do with recruiting. Brooks has MD connections but I don't think he had much success pulling guys from that area for us or UMD. Franklin likely has plenty of connections there already and needs to make inroads into NC and farther south. This makes a lot of sense to me.
