Points on the scoreboard can be influenced by more flukey events such as turnovers, big special teams plays, etc. Net success rate strips that out and shows how the two teams compared on a down to down basis.

Which yes wildly different comparison in success rate does trump an additional 6 points on the scoreboard when both games are blowouts with a similar score line.

BYU lost two fumbles and the turnover margin 0-4. They were absolutely more competitive down to down and the score would be much closer in a game with less variance.

And the -3 rushing yards is just icing on the cake. You literally can't win a game like that

This exactly. "Wasaaah the ACC fought for their one available spot!!"

Meanwhile the SEC has *five* teams in where one of them is clearly not capable of actually winning based on their lack of rushing output in the most recent matchup up and another team is missing its head coach and much of the offense staff.

The better argument and more target-rich environment is to point out that several teams are substantially degraded and not as intact as they were when their resumes were developed and why didn't the committee properly account for that in their final evaluations. Mississippi didn't move at all? Bama loses in convincing fashion and they're the only conference title loser that doesn't move *at all?*

But sure, punching down at the ACC is the move. GTFO.

I'm tired of VT making coordinator hires and having to imagine how they can workout

This is the overall sentiment. Truth be told, neither I, you, or anyone else on this Board know how these hires will work out. Pry may have a renaissance as a DC and Howle may be an up-and-coming genius but the need to squint and move goalposts to make cases for VT's O.C. and D.C. hires is just all too familiar of a feeling....

Let's think about the past few:
--Siefkies: "NFL guy" with a new scheme, look at his tape from Wofford.....ooooh Wofford...
--Hamilton: knows the "VT culture" nevermind he was inexperienced and didn't run a scheme in that was similar to Foster
--Cornelson: Co-OC at Memphis, who we instantly gave all the credit "Fuente's right-hand man"
--Bowen: another "NFL guy", previous experience at Fordham, knows "Pry's culture"
--Marve: knows "what Pry wants"; young, knows "the system" ect.

Edit: shit I forgot the best one:

Loefler: "friends with Tom Brady" although Scot was an OK coach overall

Not only does Mizzou not have any ranked wins. They don't have a single win over a team (P4, G5 or FCS) that has a winning record

I haven't watched enough Penn State recently to have an informed opinion but I did find this perspective from Sekrah on the 247 boards to be interesting:

OC Andy Kotelnicki was brought in 2023, and he runs an offense that is centered around timing. Every tenth of a second is accounted for. Hagans teaches diverse releases and route breaks. He wants his WRs to be creative. This does not gel with a timing offense. The WRs just never got going in Kotelnicki's offense.

Can't wait! From the trailer it looks like the Bulldogs brought in Gorgeous Gord, Schnurr, Palmer, and the Freezer twins to help them show the Euros how hockey is supposed to be played.

I, for one, am giddy thinking about more scenes with the Freezer twins.

"Brooks, Alberta to Sudbury. That's a 27 hour drive."

"I did it in a day, once."

SEC makes no team and geography and history-wise

I don't think geography nor history matters anymore since the PAC-whatever it is now was raided by everyone.

Now those boys could play. Damn, who's cutting onions in here while we talking about the glory days? ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Gaj wrestled one match at 149 at the national Dual. It was against NC state. Against Koy Buesgens. And even though he lost 4-1. It was his best match of the weekend. And when he was 157 he looked very outmatched. Like he was severely undersized at 157. And on the flipside. Noah Nininger had one match at 157 at the national dual. He faced Jackson Arrington in the nc state dual. And he won 8-7. And Jackson was top 10 when Noah won that match. So tbh. He would have a higher ranking at 157 than he would at 149 because of that win plus he didn't look undersized at all

I have less apprehension about Howle than Pry. Franklin is being paid a lot of money to do a good job. He wants to win and is bringing in people to help him do so.

That said, for some fans he is effectively stacking firewood under his chair for next season.

I DVed him, not because he was against DC, but because his statement was borderline TOS. There are others that have expressed similar sentiments, without the vitriol, that I have not DVed. I don't DV comments just because I disagree with the opinions therein.

Edit: At least I try not to. I may have, in the heat of the moment, but it's not often.
