Yes. They've even expanded the product line with pets and other elf friends, apparently.

My decorations aren't up until this weekend. I'm definitely not signing up for 24 nights of trying to remember if I moved the dang thing, or worse, making messes for the elf to be "caught" in that I get to clean up.

Me: Why would you want to buy a thing that tattles to Santa about your bad behavior? Especially with *your* behavior.

Daughter: I don't know. *walks away shaking head*

is elf on the shelf still a thing? I remember my brother doing that with his kids and hating it. My kid is turning 4 in February and this is probably the most magical Christmas he's going to have to date. I have no interest in doing the elf on the shelf nonsense and I don't think any of his friends are doing it either (which is why I'm surprised to still be hearing about it)

Son, a couple of years ago: Why don't we have an Elf like [friend]?
Me: Are you a good kid?
Son: Yeah...
Me: Are Mommy and I honest?
Son: Yeah...
Me: Then why would we need an Elf to tell Santa whether you're naughty or nice? He should believe us, right?
Son: ohhhhhhh...

Here's the specific tweet by @Sekrah:

I post a lot. some of what I say is unpopular. Every once in a while I say something that warrants DVs and I'll take those on the chin. Sometimes, I have innocuous posts catch DVs that I just attributed to fat fingers while scrolling on phones (they happen). And SOMETIMES I get into debates with other posters and when we're both entrenched in our views and won't budge I'll notice some DVs on posts that don't warrant it but it's clear that someone was put out by my opinion and just hit me with the DV because they didn't like what I said. Those irk me and I wish people would own up to it but they rarely do. That's why I applaud Homebrewhokie for owning it

FWIW - and setting aside my dislike of ND - they probably should be in the Big 12. Lots of Midwest teams and they could probably dominate that conference in football as much as they do the ACC. If I was them, that is where I would try and go assuming the financials work out for them. Much as I dislike ND, they should do what is in their best financial interest. Just like we should. SEC makes no team and geography and history-wise. Big 10 would be too good and they would not be the runaway top team.

I look at it like this: if we had poached Franklin from Penn State while he was still head coach there, wouldn't we expect him to bring a big chunk of his staff with him? I don't think these rumored hires are that surprising (other than the awkwardness around Pry). Franklin will probably bring in as many PSU coaches as he can, maybe keeping a few VT people for recruiting or continuity purposes, and then fill gaps where needed.

VT is a rebuilding project, not (yet) a playoff contender who can attract a dream team of assistant coaches.

Alabama also only faced 5 opponents that went 8-4 or better. Of those only 2 won games against currently ranked opponents.

Florida State 5-7 (Loss)
UL Monroe 3-9
Wisconsin 4-8
UGA 12-1 (Loss in SEC Championship)
Vanderbilt 10-2 (no currently ranked wins)
Missouri 8-4 (no currently ranked wins)
Tennessee 8-4 (no currently ranked wins)
South Carolina 4-8
LSU 7-5
Oklahoma 10-2 (Loss)
Eastern Illinois 3-9
Auburn 5-7

I get it. Bama is probably the better team. If VT played them both, odds are they would fare better against BYU. But BYU has a point, and the more you look at it the more the separation closes.

No idea how I missed this crashout, that's incredible

They are rare enough that when they do happen, they are memorable.

Or so I'm told.

Gaj actually wrestled up at 157 for National Duals. I am not a fan of the rankings insisting on only ranking a single wrestler per school per class. Rank them as you see them, let the mat sort it out. Frankly it hurts the backup if they are forced into starter role late in the season.

They were only on the right side of the rankings the whole season solely because of preseason rankings propping up their 0-2 start. The actual CFP rankings should never be announced until they announce the brackets.

They definitely know it. What other conference would they join with one toe in? SEC and B1G are now bigger than ND and can throw their weight at them. If they could even do the partial membership bullshit at the SEC or B1G, that one sided advocacy they are complaining about, I bet would actually be clearly against them.
