While part of me is a little sad that JMU gets to the playoff before we do, I can at least justify it by saying that they've got a different path.

But there was no way I was going to be okay with uva getting there before us.

One bit I forgot about was how the committee looks at teams in a way where they only consider the head-to-head if the two teams are next to each other in the rankings.

So, if we get a situation where BYU drops down and Alabama either stays in place or drops below Miami, meaning that the Catholics and convicts are back-to-back in the rankings....then the committee might look at the head-to-head and reverse the rankings. While I am fine with Miami being ahead of Notre Dame, I do not like how there is a situation where the relative rankings of two idle teams can be adjusted. That's the committee admitting that they screwed up in the previous weeks.
