Or, well, as official as he can without actually signing with the Hokies. Conor committed back in December, but reaffirmed his plans to be a preferred walk on in the fall on Wednesday.
Goulding will be a preferred walk-on for the Hokies, where he hopes to earn a spot as the team's kicker or punter.
Goulding chose Virginia Tech over fellow Atlantic Coast Conference school Miami. As a preferred walk-on, Goulding has a guaranteed spot on the team. If he plays at all as a freshmen, Hokies coaches have told him he'll receive a scholarship in January.

Michael Via - scheduled for ACL surgery on Thursday. Should recover in time for August practices.
Vinston Painter - suffered a dislocated knee cap in Saturday’s scrimmage. Will be held out of the remainder of the spring practices. The medical staff anticipates no further damage, however, when the swelling subsides, Painter will undergo further evaluation
Moving day at the Masters you say? Pfft, the Hokies held their first public scrimmage in Blacksburg today and thanks to campus correspondent James (if you're already not following him on Twitter you should be: @hokie8807.) we've got a rundown of everything that happened.
Let's do it.
We're hearing that linebacker Quillie Odom may no longer be a part of the team. If we're right it's due to a mix of academic issues and lack of desire to continue his football career. He isn't listed on the two-deep in the spring media guide and is discussed fifth (last) at the Mike. Our source says he is well thought of by the coaches and peers. Whatever happens we list him the best of luck. We'll keep you updated if we hear more.
Coach London is working overtime on the Reach Out to Fans step of the UVa FAIL CHART. This short video was played across the Commonwealth after Monday's fantastic NCAA Basketball Championship. In it London asks the Hoos to, "please join us as we build the future of Virginia football."
A couple of times during the commercial a phone number was flashed on the screen.
Since I'm a huge sucker for numbers appearing on my television —I own a Slap Chop, several Twin Draft Guards, and Point n Paint— I decided to give it a call.

Hold on and grab your ass cheeks because Billy Hite says we're running the belly play baby!
I visited Blacksburg the last weekend of February to watch the Hokie roundballers take on Maryland. As is customary for all my trips to the 'Burg I ate at Substation II, drank Rails and visited all the bookstores. While I was waiting in line to pay for my latest Hokie gear at Tech Bookstore I noticed standing in front of me were about half a dozen or so tall brawny high schoolers wearing black VT embroidered sweatshirts (or fleeces, I really can't remember) with name tags stuck to the front. The collection of impressive physiques were distinguishing them from the rest of the day's patrons. Ohhhh, wait a second I thought to myself, it was an unofficial visit weekend.
No, we're not, you've got the jets.
We're glad he likes it. Do yourself a favor and follow him on the Twitter: @DyrellRoberts.

Spring practice starts today. Amen. Let's take a look at who's leaving, who's back and who needs to step their game up.

Offensive Skill
Name | Position | Receptions | Yards | Touchdowns |
---|---|---|---|---|
Greg Boone | TE | 7 | 75 | 0 |
Sam Wheeler | TE | 2 | 30 | 0 |
Kenny Jefferson | FB | 1 | 7 | 0 |
Player Totals | 10 | 112 | 0 | |
2009 Totals | 137 (7.3%) | 2391 (4.68%) | 14 (0%) |
As you can see from the table above, in terms of production, we don't lose much. However, you can't quantify what we did lose. Kenny Jefferson has been doing work in the running game since '07. He pounded defenders like a jackhammer and he's partially responsible for escalating Ryan Williams through the stratosphere towards deity status. Greg Boone came to Blacksburg as a quarterback, ate a small village and destroyed everything in his path regardless of where he played. The Wild Turkey won't be the same without him.
Offensive Linemen
Last year's offensive line, like a slow setting Jell-O, took a long time to congeal. To me the individual parts were greater than the whole. Even though Wang could be a first round draft pick and Render has a chance to play in the league I'm not devastated by their loss.
Josh Oglesby is moving to fullback, per HokieSports. Good move for him since he wouldn't have had many carries this year at tailback. Glad to see he's willing to do whatever to help the team and I hope he succeeds.
The Mike London regime is right on schedule. After some initial recruiting buzz the first year coach and athletic department are reaching out for the support of Hooville.
"It starts with getting our state back," Oliver said. "I've said it on the radio, and I'll say it again: I have a lot of respect for Virginia Tech and what they've done. That doesn't mean I have to like it.
the above gif is of the animated variety, give it a second to load
...And Ed Wang won Outstanding Offensive Lineman. That should put the 2009 offensive line into perspective.

Hello friends and welcome to The Key Play dot com.
Why, you ask, has this website taken over your Internets today? The simple answer is Hokie football. As far as my eyes are concerned, maroon and orange are the two most beautiful colors in the world. I love, to the point of an unhealthy obsession, Virginia Tech football.
What I'm going to do.
