Six Characteristics For a Playoff National Champion

ESPN analyzed 10 years of recruiting trends to determine 6 characteristics to predict a playoff national champion. 29 of the 30 total occurrences (6 characteristics × 5 playoff national champions) held up.

(Spoiler: The Hokies are a long way off. Although, they apparently didn't recognize QP as an ESPN 300 quarterback.)

REPORT: Nester will flip to VT

I am not sure that I like that this news is being broken ahead of his announcement in the wee hours of the morning, but Grant Traylor (reporter in Huntington, WV and beat writer for Marshall football) has confirmed that Doug Nester will pick VT.

The almost top 100 athlete is a 4* composite and is a huge pick up for the Hokies.

The article linked in the tweet below sheds some light on how mature Nester was during the process. He also talks a lot about how much Blacksburg just felt right to him. I think it is definitely worth the read.

Justin Hamilton was awesome at NOVA recruiting event

I could not be more impressed. Just as personable as Wiggins. I hope he sticks and moves up the coach buying staff. Best story: when he was recruited he got a half page story in his small town town newspaper about it. The Kevin Jones committed and was on the front page of his own home town newspaper.

Payoute-International Bowl

Playing in the International Bowl on ESPN3 right now. First three Team USA drives:

-Payoute 65-yard screen pass TD
-Payoute 15-yard screen pass TD
-Payoute 35-yard reception; another 25-yard TD reception called back for holding

By far the best offensive player on the field so far.

JR Walker, Adarious Jones, and Ben Smiley are also all playing.

Edit: 45 yard TD reception for score #3

Edit #2: Named MVP

Jalen Hurts expected to transfer

Jalen Hurts just put his name in the NCAA transfer portal... any chance we go after him while we give QP an extra year to develop? 26-2 as a starter and former SEC Offensive POTY

Cameron Roseman-Sinclair to UNC

Cameron Roseman-Sinclair, a top Virginia Tech 2020 target, committed to North Carolina. Up until now, recruitniks had considered the 4-star Myers Park HS product a Hokies lean. He visited Blacksburg multiple times and was teammates with 2019 Tech signee Elijah Bowick. Tech was well positioned to land him.

2020 Recruiting Watchlist

It's time to move on to 2020, right? I've done a similar post for the last couple of classes. Here would be my ideal list of a class to sign next year, that would also be somewhat realistic. I'll share some more thoughts on the class below, but here is who I am keeping track of:

Thoughts on 2018 December Signees

I posted this thread last year and people seemed to enjoy it, so I will (somewhat reluctantly) oblige to those that requested that I write one for 2019.

As follows are my thoughts on today's signing class, and I how I would rank them as prospects. Keep in mind that these rankings reflect what I think about a player overall and how they fit in to Tech's system, but not based necessarily on present needs. Here we go:
