I wanted to take a good look into VA recruiting.
[Using 247 for all data]
Lets start for some oddities I noticed:
1) I have no clue on what is in the water in Woodberry Forest, but they have a lot of recruits for being in the middle of nowhere. I had to look it up on a map to find where it was.
2) Charlotte Court House VA is a real town and not a municipal building, who knew?
3) NOVA football really means Ashburn and Centerville, Alexandria is 3rd by a good margin in top 25 players
4) VA has a lot of QBs, VT has missed on a lot of QBs.
5) PSU recruits NOVA. It was rare to see a player go to PSU that wasn't from Northern Virginia.

Maryland... Who went 3-9 last year and won 1 B1G game. Maryland who has not been relevant in 18 years. Maryland who let a player die on their watch a whole 2 years ago. Maryland. Is the front runner for the best transfer QB on the market. This is an example of why people on here suggest recruiting needs to improve at VT. Maryland's recruiting operation is good enough- despite zero success and juice around that program for nearly 20 years- to land very serious consideration from the top QB transfer in college football. Some people can simply recruit. We need more of those people.

good morning hokies! just wanted to share a little bit of inside insight on recruiting and how difficult a decision this is for these young men so next time we have a breakdown on a coach, kid, family, or whoever when a kid picks somewhere other than VT hopefully we can step back take a deep breath and try and keep a positive attitude and support (and stay the hell off twitter gosh dang lol) the kids we got and wish well the ones we don't get.
(only doing this because I know tyree wouldn't mind me sharing)

I'm not going to do my normal ranking of commits this cycle, considering how middling the results were. I will, however, give you the three prospects that are the most intriguing to me. In no particular order:
1) Derrell Bailey Jr. - When has first committed, I was positive that he would be immediately moved to OT. Plus athlete for his size with long arms, but didn't show the requisite burst off the line you'd like to see in a DL prospect. But after he published his senior film, my feelings began to change. His new tape showed much more quickness at the snap and improved closing speed in the backfield. I'm still not convinced that he wouldn't make a better OT, but I'm far from opposed to the idea of giving him a shot at DT.

Granted ESD is only 1/2 over, but the overall numbers are pretty solid for what Fuente has tried to build since taking over in 2016.
On offense, the Hokies have signed 42 players. 4 quarterbacks, 9 running backs, 11 wide receivers, 5 tight ends and 13 linemen.
Defensively, he has signed 43. 8 defensive ends, 8 defensive tackles, 9 linebackers, and 18 defensive backs.
Add in two scholarship specialists, and over four years, Fuente has inked 87 total players.
