ACC Start....

Not so bad for the ACC:

First, VT losing....never a good thing. I am surprised, honestly that we didn't cover the spread, because we tend too. But I am pissed that it was special teams AGAIN in our big game that cut us off at the knees......

UNC looked out-matched against a veritable Jadaveon-less USCe. Freakin' basketball school If you're going to cheat, at least win something.

It bugged me to see Syracuse lose to Penn State. Not only was it a close ACC loss, but it was the hands of freshman QB Hackenburg.....from the great state of Virginia! (Kids, stay HOME! I'm looking at you Da'Shawn....)

The Aftermath of a Loss

It's always tougher after a loss. For some of our fans this was a "One game season" playing Bama. This was only the first game of our season. The rest of our season still matters! I know that everyone invested a lot of their time into "BEATBAMA". I did, and I don't regret a bit of it! I'm a Hokie through and through Win or lose. But as fans can we please stop tearing down our team! I know it was hard tonight watching our offense play the way they did and watching the drops. But please let's not try to point our fingers at those kids, whether they're seniors or freshman. I think some of them know they didn't leave it all on the field, or play to the best of there ability while on it.

CATCH THE DAMN FOOTBALL: Bama Game Analysis

This will probably be one of many of these types of posts. Oh well.

We all know how well the defense played, and how mediocre the offense played. Offense points alone, Bama only outscored us 14-10. Many fans will be calling for Leal I'm sure, and Logan didn't look great, but his team didn't help him. Here's some of the problems with what I saw in the offense:

Some things have changed, some things have not

It was a nice surprise to find a speedy true freshman hit the LOS like he was running for his life for a change. It was also great to find our defense swarming the ball, making plays in the secondary and doing everything they could to get off the field. I am proud of that side of the game.

As for the special teams, I am shaking my head. I saw on the first kickoff three Hokies get plowed by Alabama players. The overall physicality and athleticism was no contest. I will stop there because I cannot say anything else remotely positive.

Make or break

Every time we open up with a big game all of our coaches say it won't make or break our season because w can still win the ACC and go to a BCS bowl. I say to hell with that. It does make or break our season. It's another loss to the sec, another non conference loss, another black eye for the ACC, another pillar for people to claim the sec is better than everybody else. Our national reputation is on the line here people and most fans know it. It's time we go out and earn back our spot among the contenders and start making our conference legit once again. It's time for darkness to rise...

JC out for #beatbama

Apparently JC did not make the trip to Atlanta. Not ideal to have 4 starters hurt for the opening game against the nation's best. Hopefully Trey will have the game of his life.

Well, Y'all...

It's here.

The clock has slowly churned minute-by-minute, with each jolt of movement from it's little hand bringing us closer to this day, the last in what some could call the longest week of the off season.

From firings to hirings, commitments to de-commitments, and excitement to letdown, it's all led up to this.
After tomorrow, there will be no more shroud of secrecy hanging over this team we vicariously live and die with week-to-week.

Another Quick Question...

Hokie fans,

Which would hurt worse on Saturday?

a) A 33-17, 28-14 kind of affair where the outcome was never really in doubt, but not exactly a beatdown. Just a game where Alabama was truly the better team, and the Hokies couldn't match it despite a good, solid effort...

or

b) A 31-30 loss where the Hokies had a chance at the end and they shoot themselves in the foot, i.e. poor play call, poor clock management, or bonehead LT error.

Beat Bama Beer Label

Figured I'd give writing a blog post a try and this is as good a time as ever. I made a Belgian Pale Ale August 2nd. I figured this beer would be great for tailgating. So, I made a label (with a great deal of help) dedicating it to this game. I'll be bringing a case of it with me to Atlanta. Tell me what you think!

Analysis sent to my inbox

Man it is getting rough down here. Got this analysis sent from a BAMA fan at work to my work email. Didn't have a source in the email so I will take the liberty of pasting what was sent to my email in it's entirety. In short, as BAMA sees it, there Offense is better than our Defense except for the interier line where we are even. Thought I would share the aggravation, and give Bama's perspective.

Make Something Happen

Just got finished reading the story of Josh Trimble's father.

Trimble sons keep their fathers memory alive

Great Read if you haven't already. This paragraph stood out to me.

Gretchen even had shirts made featuring Steves face and his saying. Jordan, Jeremy and Josh wore them under their jerseys during the first game after his death. Over the course of the 2011 season, the entire OConnell community embraced the message, and the stands were covered with fans wearing Make something happen shirts.

VT football is beautiful.

I just moved to Ann Arbor and I don't have a bed yet. It's raining out, and the sound of it is scaring my dog, who usually curls up with me in bed when she's frightened. Instead she's trying to shoehorn herself onto this skinny little couch. And I've got a lot going on in my own life: I'm in my second full day in a brand new city, about to start grad school at a place I can't afford, to go into a dying industry with a stubborn baby boomer stranglehold on the workforce. And I'm debating whether I should text this girl, or chill out, or ask her out, or whatever. And (minus a couple shameful aberrations) I've gone over a full year without having a drink.

Key match-ups; How to turn the Tide

The Key Matchup, how to turn the Tide

Here we are, less than 5 days from playing Alabama and everyone is hitting the panic button. Myself included. Our team is riddled with injuries, we are incorporating a brand new offense, and weve had attrition during fall camp like weve never seen before. I get ittime to get worried, right? Not so fast. I took it upon myself to analyze Alabamas weaknesses in an effort of determining whenand how we can derail their game plan. My findings? Read below.

Quick question...

When one says "Don't deny my pussy touchdowns"...is it meant to be understood that somebody owns a vagina and it demands touchdowns, or else? OR is to be construed that a pussy touchdown is a type of touchdown?

I'd like this cleared up before you leave for the day.
Thank you.
