"Through the darkest of hours, I witnessed humanity at its best."

I had a long piece written out myself. I wanted to express a bit of my emotions somewhere -- naturally a Virginia Tech football website was sought as a refuge for that -- seeing how I am no longer in Blacksburg and no longer surrounded by the love and pride that I am used to being swarmed by in that community.

But then my sister posted this story of hers on Facebook before I did mine, and I stopped myself before hitting the last few keys on the keyboard. Instead I wanted to relay you her words, as she said everything perfectly:

Masters?? Its Cheerleading Season

VT Cheer

I know we're all gearing up for The Masters this weekend, but lets take a second to show some love to the Spirit Programs.

This time every year the VT Cheerleading and Dance teams travel down to Daytona Beach to compete for the NCA & NDA Collegiate Cheer and Dance National Championship. The Spirit programs, by nature, get filed under the "Support" category, but this is one of the few times a year the spotlight is on them instead of Football or Basketball.

Article Link - Tech Unveils New Offense - VTSports.com

Scot Loeffler has had only six football practices to install the new offense he’s bringing to Virginia Tech. But even in that limited time, it’s obvious the new offensive coordinator’s schemes will attempt to create mismatches through pre-snap motion and by putting versatile players on the field. "Any time you force teams to make a decision,” Loeffler said, “I think that’s a huge advantage.” Loeffler said. “We’re just trying to find the niche of trying to get our best 11 out on the field.”

“We’re going to take advantage of the defense,” said senior wide receiver D.J. Coles, a former Goochland star. “We’re going to attack the defense. We’re not going to sit back and just play. We’re going to go at them.”

The LOL's keep rolling in for LOLUVA

This comes from the Washington Post via Drudge....

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/local/wp/2013/04/08/false-rumors-of-...

Seems that somebody pulled a prank at hooville, prompting a wholesale dump of spirits around campus (I refuse to use the G word...ground is something you stand on, not in).

You have to be sure to read the comments on the story....my favorite is from someone named postfan10, who should be given an honorary TKP membership: "Zima stock just went up."

Best Spring Game Moment I've Ever Seen - tear jerker

I'm not typically a Nebraska fan...but suddenly find myself liking them A LOT more...

Here is the story from Yahoo! Sports:

Nebraska held is annual Red-White Spring Game on Saturday and the star of the contest was a 7-year-old boy. Jack Hoffman is a diehard Nebraska fan battling brain cancer. Last season, he formed a bond with Nebraska running back Rex Burkhead and has become an inspiration for the Huskers ever since. So, during the fourth quarter of the spring game, Hoffman, who was dressed in a Nebraska uniform complete with an oversized helmet (no pads), lined up in the backfield, got the hand off and ran the ball in for a long touchdown. It was the highlight of the game.

April 1st Spring Practice Highlights

Credit to HokieSports here:

Be warned: takes forever to buffer.

Play 1

Leal at QB, Duane Perez Means at Hback, Jake Goins at RT, Michael Holmes at RB.

Playaction zone stretch to the left side, Perez-Means crosses the action to the right and looks like he might seal the backside defensive end. Perez-Means continues into the flat and Leal delivers him a good pass for ~10 yarrds. One of the WRs was out in space fighting to get a block in.

Play 2

Leal at QB, Jake Goins at RT, Tyrel Wilson at playside DE,

Lunch Pail Defense Hokiebird: If I could afford this, I'd buy it.

This is just awesome!
I received this link via an alumni news letter. The statues are kinda pricey, but if I had the jack, I'd drop it.

This is from the same folks who brought us the painted hokie birds around Blacksburg. You can also see a gallery of the birds around town and some other hokie birds for sale on their site.

Hokie Sports Depth Chart

Just saw the new depth chart for spring ball. Only part of the offense came up so I guess there was an error posting it, but a few things popped out to me. Josh Stanford listed as second team split end which is exciting, I hope him and Caleb have great springs. Also tight end went Malleck, Perez-Means, Darius Redman. No Zach McCray. I guess he is still learning the position? I expect to see him up there before spring is over.

First of Two Junior Day Weekends Tomorrow

Tech Football has it's first of two junior day weekends tomorrow. These are typically huge weekends for the program to evaluate talent, impress recruits, and get commits. Was hoping some of you TKP insiders could shed some light on which recruits will be in attendance and who, if anyone, has a chance of commiting tomorrow.

Thank You Erick Green

We all grow up admiring those we either claim or are presented to us as superheroes. It shows the best in us to aspire to be like those who give so much while asking for little in return. When faced with adversity these people continue to deliver for the simple justification of wanting to help those around them.

Thursday Night Games- A Different Perspective for 2013

Editor's Note: Any argument/discussion worth having requires examination of both sides. Like many of you, I am aggravated there's no Thursday game in Lane, but Hokie Stone wrote a good post that maybe it's not such a bad thing. I thought that it was worth bumping to the front. --Joe

Hokie Joker Wishlist for 2013 Football Season

I did this last year, coming up with a few things I wanted for the 2012 Season, Sadly I got none of them... so this year, my list is simple, even though some maybe a littel hard than others.
1. Overall, a better season/record. We were one ACC Win away from playing in the ACCCG. When you look at it there were a Few games we should have won: FSU, Miami (Especially Miami). we finished with a 7-6 Record. I'm sorry but that is not Virginia Tech Football. Things need to get better. Hopefully with the new hires we can do that...and this brings me to my next point...
2.Return to the Top of the ACC! Win games, beat teams you should. that's all i have to say.

Virginia Tech ACC Swimming and Diving Championships to Start Tomorrow

Hey all, I know this site focuses mostly on Football and, secondarily, basketball, but I thought it couldn't hurt to bring to your attention that the Women's ACC Championship Swim Meet will be kicking off tomorrow and last through Saturday night.
I'm working on a more extensive post highlighting the men's team, and their chances to unseat perennial powerhouse, UVA, as league champions for next week, but what's important to note, is that starting tomorrow, the men's Diving will be taking place alongside the women's meet.  Many do not know this, but diving is scored alongside swimming in order to determine a champion (think of it like track and field).
