"6-9 215 true freshman Neoklis Avdalas from Greece, a 5* prospect ranked somewhere between 9th and 16th in the 2025 class, the second highest rated recruit in VT basketball history."

This dude has the DOG in him. I saw some practice clips. He's aggressive and "Wants. IT!"
He will start eventually this year.
Let's Go! Hokies!

One of the greatest 1-on-1 basketball moves to the hoop ever. Period.

I told someone recently that we are very clearly the worst FBS program in VA currently, and it's pretty arguable that we are worst D1 program as well. Well maybe second worst only to VMI or Norfolk State. Really sad times.

Unfortunately has led William and Mary football to a better record since 2019 than the Hokies. He is 39-29 thanks mostly to a magical 11-2 season in 2022. Hokies are 37-44 in that same span. Discrepancy in games played is that W&M only played 3 games in Covid year.

Does that make us the 6th best team in Virginia?

One thing that's going to be really interesting to watch at the University of Florida is how the general manager plays.

Last year they hired a general manager with NFL, front office experience, and he's still on staff... For now.

If Florida hires a new coach and chooses to keep this guy on, then I will believe that the 'NFL model' could happen in college.

But, if the new coach comes in, and brings his own guy with him, then that signals to me that the head coach is still calling the shots, is still the face of the program, and the "general manager" will continue to report (be it formally or informally) to the coach

Agree. It's not who we lost to, but how we lost Vandy and ODU. It was apparent to anyone that the team quit on Pry in the second half of Vandy and never looked back. They could have played anyone and lost in the same fashion with where the team mindset was at around that point. Just point of no return.

Joe Paterno let Jerry Sandusky do what he was doing without reporting it directly to the police.

Assuming this is supposed to be head coaches. If I could do assistants, well, you know who that would be. Just skip the Joe part and go straight to Jerry.

I was a product of Catholic schools. Don't get me wrong they are good schools. but here in Cincy the Catholic schools have a bit too much of a culty devotion. The running joke is if you ask someone in Cincy where they went to school, they will name their high school instead of college.

What I mean by the way we lost was how we had 4th and inches at a critical moment and elected not to go for it then the team visibly quit on the game and Vandy blew us off the field from that point on. So it's not about how good or bad Vandy is. It's about how the coach lost the team in that moment.

FSU isn't a rich program either, they have a good amount of budget but they aren't Bama, A&M, etc

I thought the same about Seton Hall but most of preseason stuff projects Seton Hall to finish 8th or 9th in the Big East out of 11 teams. They finished 7-25 last year and 2-18 in conference.

My only note of caution is that Justin Fuente fit Danny White's model and took his first team at Tech to the ACC Championship Game. That leads to my only concern regarding Coach Huff, that his public persona much like the aforementioned Mr. Fuente might not endear him to the Hokie Faithful and admin. Still all things being equal, winning buys you a lot of grace ... until it doesn't (Just ask Seth Greenberg).

are you talking about Bowen or Drones specifically? Would tend to agree on both.

My biggest gripe with Bowen was that he seemed to try to get too cute with stuff. Like thinking Drones was going to be some drop back passing stud last year or the dumb Collin Schlee packages. I think if he was part of a competent program where he got direction from the HC, he'd probably tell him to run the effing ball more with Tuten/Drones and we would've looked pretty good despite the OL.

With Drones, the above average version from 2023 is in there somewhere but needs the supporting cast of play calling, skill players, and OL.
