Nailed it (pun intended). It's obviously not a logically strong point and was intended only to get a chuckle. But the broader point, I think, stands. Once something is out in the wild - a name, an object, whatever - its name, purpose, and function is either adopted or adapted by those who use it.
Well, let's just I say I hope that you are right and that I am completely wrong (and I've been wrong before.) I'm just trying to temper my expectations for Fuente's first year, because that way I won't be crushed if we have a season similar to the last 3-4 years.
Don't get me wrong, if we can stay healthy and our offense makes significant progress I can see a 9-10 win season easily. I just see this season a stepping stone for what is to come, with 7-8 wins being perfectly acceptable.
Return of full-on, D-Block lockdown swagger.
To be honest, 8+2 (no permanent cross division) is my favorite option. Notre Dame will take one of those spots when you play them. For the SEC rivals, that is there other spot. That gives everybody freedom for those last two spots.
What I would like to see implements is a maximum of no more than one FCS team. Not two in one year. That would prevents the FSU, NC's, Duke's, NC State's from loading up with a very WEAK OOC schedule.
Can try, but crazy busy.
the pronunciation of "viagra" is irrelevant to his point. Viagra was created by a guy who had the intent to treat heart conditions. Viagra is, instead, used by the masses for ED. And generally accepted as such.
The creator of the .gif probably intended for it to be announced "jif" but instead, the masses generally agree that it should be pronounced with a hard g, like "gif"
Except "viagra" is a made up name for a new product so, yes, if the inventor had called it "viagray" I'd say "viagray."
"Graphics," on the other hand, was an established part of the English language well before the Graphics Interchange Format was a thing. He invented the technology, slapped a name on it, and then said "English be damned, I'm ignoring how this word is pronounced but only when I use it in the acronym. Pronounce it normally for the full name."
As for giraffe, gypsy, and giant.....again, see the established pronunciation of those words. If someone came up with an acronym using those, of course I'd use the soft g. If someone came up with an acronym and wanted to use a hard g for giraffe I'd use the exact same argument I'm using for GIF: that's not how English works.
But, anyway, as you say no one is going to win the argument one way or another so I'll agree to disagree if you will. I think we can also agree that Jif peanut butter is the supreme brand of peanut butter, turkey legs are awesome, VT > UVA, and pie is better than cake. Also I owe you a beer whenever you're in Bburg
That's a great pull. I had completely forgotten about kennyhokie. One of the most ridiculous threads that we've had here. It is definitely worth a read.
It was meant only as a tongue-in-cheek example.
But if language didn't evolve, we wouldst all beest speaking olde english.
FCS games should go away anyway. So really the argument here is what is to be done with those OOC games? Imo everyone should only play P5 opponents but even if you are required to do 9+1 you still have room to play a big marquee game OOC.
1 SEC/In State Rival
1 P5 team
1 G5 team
Yeah ND complicates some of that schedule but it also makes it a little easier as their games still won't count as one of the 9. Any year you play them you can choose to have an awesome full schedule with all P5 opponents or you can skip on a marquee OOC game for a G5 team. The schedule complaints are just non existent if you're prepared to play a full schedule of FBS teams, the only reason not to is to inflate your win total so you can make a bowl which there are already too many of (not that we won't watch them, but still).
The whole playing meaningful conference games is big, plus seeing every conference opponent in a 5 year cycle. I want 9 conference games if only to force people to stop paying for games no one really wants to watch more than a half of (or its brutally embarassing when you squeak by or lose FUCKING JMU). I get there is a financial trickle down here, but the more games between similarly talented teams the better for everyone. When you have less wiggle room there you have to add quality imo.
I want that feeling back where I know we're gonna just hit the other team square in the mouth, where I expect to keep the other team less than 100 yards rushing. Where I believe any time it's 3 and 2 or more, we will stop them. I want to feel the opposing team's fear stagnate in the air when they stand across from or defense. I want to see the defense have that swagger again.

Oh and pummel UVA so deep into the ground they have to join the Chinese Football League as cheerleaders. Welcome to the Fuente Era!
Whatever allows us to be able to play Clemson, FSU on a more regular basis. Those teams need to be in Lane more than once a millennium.
Those stats for Brewer include his Texas Tech stats, which, granted was only 4 games, so 26 games total, 2 seasons worth.
I'm no Glennon backer, but to fair to the guy, he really had 0 offensive line either, he typically had a defender in his face within a second of getting the snap. It was a wonder he didn't fumble/toss picks more often than he did. Glennon also played in 4 games as a true freshman (granted, relief work).
What's the earliest week we can lock up the coastal division?
I love Garden City and Surfside. We should hang out/meet up (if I can steal a moment from the Mrs).
Sam Rogers/Chuck Norris/Superman comparisons
Absolutely LOVE this. I would just like to infer a clarification:
MV7=Superman
Sam Rogers=Chuck Norris/Hulk
Also, MV5: worst ever waste of talent in the history or Hokiedom. Ever.
Am I the only one who thinks its a little slight of hand by Fuente. Id be surprised if Evans isnt the starter this year. Its not like anything weve seen has us questioning his ability. Plus, both quarterbacks with the media seemed to me like they were searching for answers, not because they arent very comfortable yet, which it could be, but it was like they were trying to answer questions while in the back of their mind they were thinking "okay, well coach told me not to say this or that or anything really, so how do I answer it without really answering this question"
That being said, Jackson looks like the real deal and our QB room looks better stocked than it has in previous years. I just think, looking at his senior year highlights, if he plays like that it wont be a matter of 'if' he gets injured but 'when'. He gets absolutely clocked on several of those throws, which is great, hes fearless, but it will be hard for him to take those kinds of hits at this level with his frame and not expect to be hurt.
To summarize, I predict Evans will start.
Optimistically, its not even a contest and Fuente knows hes got to keep it under wraps because we need to come out against UT scoring on the first drive and watch them scramble when they realize we have a true Heisman candidate at QB...I bet thats it.
The north end. I live all the way on the south end, Murrells Inlet, less people, less tourists and tourist traps.

# | Josh Jackson's "Really Good Camp" Propels Him Into Middle of Virginia Tech's QB Competition What the link/name for the snapchat?
Agreed on the fact that no one wins an argument on the pronunciation of a soft or hard 'g' I was merely responding to the point the gif above makes.
I do disagree on the viagra example. If the creator of the little blue pill pronounced it "viagray" I assume doctors, patients, etc would pronounce it that way as well.
Great work and very funny read!
A more recent one that people might remember is the Shockwave debacle.
Too late. We can't ESCAPE it now.
Sea Watch. My mom owns a condo. We'll be there from the 22ish-28th.

Haha +1.
Alloweth us to lie this kindly quarrel to bed.
