My youngest two (twins) start kindergarten in two weeks. It was hard enough when big sis started, but I think this one will be tougher, since it's the last time we do this.

Agree completely. Jackson not have wowed the recruiting sites with arm strength or speed but he was a winner through and through. Took his team to the state championship game in Michigan at the highest competition level. I'm worried about whether he can take the pounding of read-option run plays, but otherwise I say go for it if Evans is not progressing quickly enough.

We didn't see the Bear D against W&M in 2014. Like others have said we'll most likely play it close to the vest against LU, our only advantage against them is they have never seen CJF offense with the caliber of our athletes. I think our offensive athletes can compete with their D, I'm worried about our D athletes against their O...and I can't believe I just typed that but it's true.
However, when we go to South Bend what we see is what we get.

Brewer only played 2 years really 1 1/2 after injuries.
This exercise is why statistics don't tell the whole story. Who is drawing an NFL paycheck? Who would fumble/hold the ball too long/couldn't sense pressure? Who went entire seasons with no OLine or without any viable offensive threats around him? Who played as a true freshman for OCainspring? Who won multiple conference championships? All the names on this list have reasons or explanations regarding how their playing days unfolded.

I get it about the reps thing. But we will just have to disagree on not having a backup QB prepared to know what he is doing, especially since it had happened before. If the backup is not taking it seriously get another backup. Fuente seems to get it. That is part of a coaches job to figure those things out. Blaming it on the player after the UCLA game is not a fiction. It happened and did not need to be done publicly. At a minimum in his mind Motley also was not ready last year when Brewer went down. I in no way believe he did not take it seriously as we were told was the case with Leal. Motley simply did not appear to have been prepped to play.

Can't find the source of this, but pretty much used to make fun of UVA's pathetic Spring Game Festival attendance whenever somebody brings up another extremely low number, e.g. UVA wins over VT in the past decade/papacy, outright ACC football championships won by UVA (or Miami), etc.

The referenced commenter is not young, not young at all. There were days when W&M, Richmond, and VMI could probably beat us as much as we could beat them. I have tried to forget those days, but lo and behold, JMU came along and ... I think we would take W&M this year.

I know we've hashed this out, but both 9+1 and 8+2 should produce more meaningful games, it just comes down to who your AD is willing to schedule. With a 9+1, we play Wake and Syracuse more often and that doesn't really help our strength of schedule. With 8+2, we could conceivably play anOSU and Alabama more often. It just so happens that we have a crappy permanent game against BC that will always water down our ACC schedule so we want more games to reduce the effect.

I am 100% for the 9+1 format.

What is the point of having a season but to watch your team play in as many exciting, "meaningful" games as possible.

Don't get me wrong, I will love watching VT smash liberty just to have Hokie football back, but I can't say that I will necessarily wake up that morning super pumped for the matchup itself, or even necessarily scheduling my day around it.

I would love to see FSU, Clemson, NC State, and Louisville more, because those are games I can get up for all week long. If that means our schedules year to year are tougher, so what?
