It isn't Jordan Williams, and Williams would probably be too big/not twitchy enough for Bud's scheme anyway. He is already as big or bigger than Mihota and isn't any faster. That doesn't mean he won't be a beast, but fit wise, he isn't the best.

I am praying that somehow they pull a miracle and flip Luiji Villan along with getting Garbutt back in the fold. Villan was my favorite of all the DE's they were recruiting.

I think everyone could see the likely writing on the wall after Evans came in and surpassed him on the depth chart but think that the constant questions and posts on subjects that weren't really related to Dwayne were wholly unnecessary.

Agreed, nothing beats the coverage by the key play. Discussion id say isn't a huge selling point, but man, such good coverage.

No doc or shark here. I was soooo smart that I flunked out after first quarter sophomore year. During the Vietnam war. During the years of the draft lottery. My number was 121, and they got there quickly. On the positive side of the equation, I was able to eventually graduate without debt thanks to Uncle Sam's assistance.

I think I'm confusing transfer announcement with "kid got suspended indefinitely" announcement.

I appreciate the well-thought out opposing view points.

The debate of kid versus young adult is ancillary. I call them kids in either circumstance: good or bad. Also, I didn't once contribute to any speculation of Lawson transferring even though I heard it was a possibility many months ago. Don't put that evil on me.

The release from Virginia Tech essentially said, "Well... We (Tech) tried to make it work." It places the blame on Lawson for it not working out.

At the end of the day Virginia Tech gained nothing by the way the release was written. A hypothetical, if I was recruiting against Tech, I would show that statement to every high profile recruit both my hypothetical school and Tech were competing for.

"See this, if you don't work out there, it's you're fault and you'll get tossed," said coach Joe.

Another hypothetical, it could hurt Tech's rep recruiting in Tampa.

A positive statement has no risk associated with it.

"Both Dwayne and I decided it would be in his best interest if he continued his career elsewhere. Together we found an opportunity for him to continue his academic and athletic career at Hutchinson Community College. I wish him the best."

There's no ambiguity, and no hint of the blame game there. In fact, it conveys even if Tech doesn't work out, Fuente will advance a player's career do right by them.

There has almost always been some kind of statement when a kids leaves.

Whatever it means, it's definitely more than the "no comment" of yore. The more words they use, the more for us to misconstrue (or correctly construe).

I wonder if this went through Fuente himself, or VT staff? Who made the decision (or suggestion) to include more words?

We're going to have a pretty tough schedule. At least 4 of the teams we play will probably be ranked when we play them (Tenn, UNC, Miami(not yet ranked, but could be by then), ND)

That's not to mention that some of our later games (Duke, GT, Pitt) could be against teams which are ranked if they are having a great season up to that point.

It's a tough first year for CJF

Hatin' Ass Spurrier would read that article and say, "I ain't read satire that bad since the press release announcin' Will Muschamp as coach of the Gators."

In 100% of the disciplinary/adverse actions I took over the years, the employee always talked about it with friends, who immediately spread it. Which was a pain for me because I couldn't correct the misinfo.

If you read the VT news release, it says all it can about the situation without violating privacy info.

It'll be interesting to see how the big ones go this year, like UT
and ND. I remember when our D could keep us in big games in the
past, but I guess that stopped last year with the DB's being inexperienced.

With things looking up this season, hope we give em a good fight.

Obviously Connor is an outstanding back. However in the past few years that we've played I don't recall him running all over us. We lost but I don't think it was because of Connor. It was more to the play of our Oline last year that played probably their worst game ever. The year prior it was their douche QB somehow running all over us. In both games we were still within a score of winning. Tough fought games but Connor was not dominating us.
