WHY IS THE MAROON SHIRT LONG SLEEVE EVERY YEAR!!! Alex can I call you Alex? This has to change, short sleeve shirts would get more sellers because you can wear it year round. I love the shirts and we but them every year but I end up not wearing the long sleeve one.

I think I read somewhere that food trucks weren't even allowed in Blacksburg until very recently. That's when VT dining started dreaming up this idea.

There's a Thai food truck that sets up shop near the North Main Food Kitty on Tuesdays now.

This is true - orange short sleeve and maroon long sleeve tend to sell better for us, but the reasoning behind 3 years of the same is our home schedule. We realize some fans prefer the long sleeve orange and short sleeve maroon so that rotation will likely be back for 2017. I explained it to Hokie Fireman above.

Things have gotten mixed up these past few seasons because of our home schedule and that is the reasoning behind 3 years of short sleeve orange and long sleeve maroon. As you might know, we have a contract with Athletics and Homecoming.

Anyways, last year was back-to-back short sleeve orange and long sleeve maroon because all parties wanted the tOSU game to be an Orange Effect game because of how nice it looked Labor Day night in 2012 against GT.

This year the plan the entire time was to go back to the rotation and have long sleeve orange and short sleeve maroon, but our home schedule and the Homecoming date that the University selected made things impossible to do so.

Obviously, the fans would have not supported an Orange Effect against Miami since it is one of their colors and #AllMaroonEverything is just made for Thursday nights in Blacksburg. Because of this, Athletics insisted on Homecoming being Orange Effect and the primetime game to be Maroon Effect.

You can completely expect the rotation to kick back in for the 2017 season. We'd still love for you to support our program!

Odd years maroon are short-sleeve, even years they are long-sleeve, which has been true back to 2007 if my memory (and closet) is correct. Prior to that, maroon was always long-sleeve (e.g. 2005-2006), and before that the occurrence of a Maroon Effect was not consistent (for a while it was always Orange Effect only).

These designs are awesome.

I will say I do have a closet full of long sleeve orange effect shirts (that are practically brand new because I prefer the maroon and you know seasons and things), but to be fair I haven't ordered every year.

They have to have the maroon shirt as the long sleeve shirt. I'd say a lot more people have long sleeve maroon shirts than orange. And if you don't have a long sleeve orange shirt and it's going to be cold, most people unfortunately will just default to wear maroon and lessen the orange effect.
