Correct- with Motuapuaka and Clarke's struggles in coverage, Bud rushed them and dropped the DE's often last season on passing downs. It is one of the reasons that DE sack numbers have trended downward a bit since Jason Worilds finished (outside of the 2014 season)

That and she named her new kitten, Sam Rogers.

Um...her new kitten doesn't look like this, by chance, does he?

Wah... from that story, the ones whining about this the most are the ones who got called out on their BS. Screw the likes of ODU who set up these sweetheart deals to bring in schools from halfway across the country to pilfer the local talent in an effort to screw over their in-state rivals. I'm glad this ruling hurts them, and I hope it hurts them for a long while to come.

Schools like Michigan and Penn St don't need to host camps in Norfolk to recruit that talent. But by doing so, they were hoping to create 'home state' pipelines, bypassing VT and UVa in the process. Fuck that.

I think some of you industrious guys need to explore a way to get word to the young Miss Watson and attempt to get her to attend a football game.

This brings to mind a story....

When I was a junior, most of the guys were infatuated with the Channel 10 weather lady, Donna Dean. One friend, a senior on the floor, was particularly enamored. We kept chiding him to call the station and see if she would attend the spring formal with him. He'd chuckle and we'd joke about it, but he wouldn't take the chance. I, however was not so dissuaded. I did my best Cyrano impression, and called the station, and amazingly got routed to the lovely Ms. Dean on my first try. I explained how we had a friend on our hall who was smitten, and would love to have her accompany him to the formal. I explained how it would be a great PR opportunity for the station, great for the university, etc, etc. She was extraordinarily nice, and explained that she'd have a hard time explaining going on a date to her husband. She did offer to send him an autographed picture as kind of a condolence prize. Knowing that this was the best conclusion I could get in the situation, I gave her my friend's address. No one said a word about it to our friend. About a week later, he received the picture with a nice personalized note written on the picture. The look on his face was priceless! One of the few times I ever saw him totally speechless.

My point is that you never know until you try, so some of you guys need to figure out how to make this happen. You never know where it will go! And if you're on TKP, Scott, I hope you still have that picture of Donna Dean squirreled away in a drawer somewhere.

Not necessarily. Given his seeming ability to play just about anywhere on the field, he'll probably play wherever the need is greatest. Foster's and Wiles's presence in the picture is probably because they're the associate head coach and (presumably, given Charley's connection to the kid's father) lead recruiter.

The original comment that all these comments stemmed from was about landing blue-chip recruits, not overall class rank.

I see what you're saying, but Dabo was getting blue-chippers in his first year as a coach, so part of me expects ... nay.... demands the same thing.

Dabo did start landing big recruits immediately. I understand small classes have a downside and that's why they affect rankings, but 7 out of 12 four stars is good for a year where they took a calculated risk on taking a smaller class. Those 4 stars are the "blue-chip" guys that fill our boards with complaints each year when we fail to land them. Overall recruiting? You're absolutely right it took a few years to get them to where they are and that is expected. Landing blue chip guys right away? he definitely did that.
