Im probably the top on this list, Ive been a little quick to make judgements on him based on what Ive heard and what coaches have said about him, it happens, its not a good look but it happens.

It wont tank his chances, but Id say he has an uphill battle now, if its really an open competition and things are as tight as some of the players are saying it is. If youve got a kid trying to win the starting job and he sleeps through a meeting, regardless if hes characterized as lazy OR a hard worker internally, its going to weigh in, especially if its as tight as its believed to be.

I agree. How many times to those few tweets have be brought up? Andy Bitter had a point, from a reporter's perspective, and Buzz had a point, from a coach's perspective. They're both right. It's basically a non-troversy, and I'm hoping Buzz and the beat reporters have gotten way over it by now. Both roles are important to our community.

I'll try my biased predictions:
NL East Champ: Mets
NL Central Champ: Cubs
NL West Champ: Giants
NL Wildcard: Nationals vs. Cardinals (Nats get revenge)

AL East Champ: Blue Jays
AL Central Champ: Royals
AL West Champ: Astros
AL Wild Card: Red Sox vs. Rangers (Rangers win)

NL Champ: Mets vs. Cubs (Mets win)
AL Champ: Astros vs. Royals (Astros win)
WS Champ: Mets vs. Astros (Mets win)

I could easily see teams like the Pirates, Angels, Dodgers, or Yankees making a run at a WS, but for now this is my gut feel.

I love TKP and am really thankful that Joe is willing to do this; but I also understand the need for the Times to make money. My problem with the Times is that they insist that I buy a full subscription to read the few articles I am actually interested in reading. I live in Western Pennsylvania and have no interest in anything in the Times other than VT athletics. I have not checked recently; but at one time the online price was higher than the home delivery price.

As for newspapers charging for their content, they've ALWAYS charged for their content. People used to buy papers. The internet revolution has changed the business model, and now the expectation is that you can find free coverage on the internet. I fear for us as publications struggle with their business model, as the quality of newspaper-reporting vs blogging is undeniable.

TKP seems to have found a happy middle-ground, with some high-quality, professional-level reporting surrounded by sourced (and unsourced) commentary from members.

I think we also have to recognize that Joe set up this site as a contribution to the Virginia Tech community, and because of his philosophy and approach to it, it has become the absolutely best source for Virginia Tech athletics news.

Yes, I'm biased. Deal with it.

I like how you are honest with everyone in the end, but try to rationalize it with yourself by saying the Sox will only be the wild card.

We're. Just. Awesome.

I like Andy just fine. I haven't been reading his work as much as I used to, especially with the increased coverage I've seen on here since joining. But I still follow him on twitter, have conversed with him a few times over that medium, and still read his articles from time to time. At the end of the day, he's just a guy doing his job, no need to attack him like this.

The Lawson is lazy narrative has gotten a little frenzied more than once on here. People oversleep, lazy people do it, determined, hardworking people do it too sometimes. No need to question his character for oversleeping a 6am meeting.

The best thing that MLB has done is letting you overlay the radio audio with the TV broadcast on MLB TV. I don't know why the radio broadcasters are so much better but they are. Pat Hughes the Cubs radio play by play guy is my favorite announcer for any sport, I even liked him better than Bill Roth who I thought did an exceptional job for VT. The only downside to MLB TV is that local teams are blacked out though it works well for a Cubs fan in SW Virginia.

Damn class getting in the way of TKPing.

Angry little girl with hairbrush commencing in 3............... 2............... 1...............

I'm doing this so I can laugh at myself next October.

NL East Champ: Mets
NL Central Champ: Pirates
NL West Champ: Giants
NL Wildcard Winner: Cubs v. Dodgers

AL East Champ: Blow Jays
AL Central Champ: Tigers
AL West Champ: Astros
AL Wildcard: Red Sox v. Royals

NL Champ: Mets
AL Champ: Red Sox
WS Champ: Red Sox
Yes, I'm biased. Deal with it.

I remember the initial thread about this and it definitely confused me a bit. Sports reporters, and reporters of all kinds, are on deadline. They have a lot of pressure from management to get these stories out as quickly as possible after a game. So when buzz delayed the media session, it's like if your boss at work called a meeting about the project due later that day, and then delayed it without telling you why. Yes, they're the boss and that's their prerogative. But you can't pretend you wouldn't be pretty annoyed/stressed about it.

As a Cubs fan the potential for this team is unbelievable, and it isn't just because of the stars mentioned like Bryant, Rizzo, and Arrieta. The real reason this team looks to be the real deal is the combination of both quality and depth they have on the roster with guys like Jorge Soler, Javier Baez who would be starters on other teams are effectively bench players for the Cubs. The other part of the Cubs depth is the number of players that can play multiple positions. Baez is supposed to be transitioning into a Zobrist type player, while the Cubs still have the OG in Zobrist himself. Schwarber will probably be the catcher for Jason Hammel (which will give Soler a little time in left) while G-Pa Ross catches for Lester and maybe Lackey and Montero gets everything else. The Cubs should have the freshest/healthiest catchers in the MLB at the end of the season. In addition to all that we have a crazy minor league system that allows the team to bring guys up if injuries occur, and gives the Cubs a ton of options before the trade deadline if for some reason part of the roster seems lacking. Don't forget the Cubs still have Joe Madden who is definitely one of the best managers in baseball.

TL;DR The Cubs have all the tools to win the World Series they just have to execute.

Lol what? Bitter gives snarky answers because people ask dumb questions. That doesn't mean he hates VT. What is it with everyone thinking neutral reporters have it out against your program? You sound like the people who tweet at Herbstreet accusing him of HATING OHIO STATE!! Please stop, it's embarrassing.
