Yea, I do NOT feel good about that, just because now if he goes elsewhere, it looks like a major failure on our part, when it could have just been groupthink among the pundits.

No matter what happens, we can all find solace in the knowledge that it's all Hokie Fireman's fault.

(/s, obvs. I've nothing but love for our resident first responder.)

There was a breakdown last year of the money each team gets from playing in the NCAA and how it benefits the league/teams.
SO....It's definitely 'Go ACC' for this Hokie fan.
(except uva.)

Hooker is poised to decide this week and Virginia Tech is in his top group.

Was it just me or did it seem that "Five" struggled a bit the last two games. I don't know if he was losing his legs at the end of the season or if the last two teams were focusing on defending him a little tighter or what. Looking at the boxscore he was held scoreless against Princeton and it looks like he got 8 against BYU.

Even though the game ended in a narrow loss, it was indicative of the change that Buzz has started in the culture of our program. We had to travel from Blacksburg to Provo, UT, the day after a grueling OT win in which we almost gave the game away down the stretch, only to battle back in the extra period to seal a home win. We then went into a packed, hostile arena and had to fight what was some questionable officiating. I honestly believe both Greenberg's and Johnson's teams would have folded under that situation, but Buzz's boys fight tooth and nail to the final buzzer. And honestly, the only thing that I personally think undid the team was a couple of freshman mistakes by Blackshear, not any overall weakness of the team in terms of ability or drive.

This isn't to crucify Blackshear. I think he will develop into an excellent player. But his lazy pass turnover and travel at the top of the key were killers for us. They were the difference in a game that was otherwise completely even. And to be completely even with the situation we were in is incredible.

Also, that game was just damn fun to watch, even though we lost. Every time BYU tried to pull away in the closing minutes, we had an answer. We answered the bell. I came away from that loss damn proud of our basketball program and hopeful for the future. I feel like we aren't even close to hitting our ceiling, and we're already a top-half ACC team. The future is bright.

This headline is only slightly misleading. It's not that there will be no numbers as a rule. instead, any player who has participated in a victory over Tech gets to wear a number...

Just because it's actually in the storyline that Merle taught him how to ride, how does that make you assume that he couldn't have taught him how to drive a stick as well? Or maybe he learned the way I did?

I wrecked my car in high school and needed another ASAP to get to work and back. My uncle had an old beater Ford Ranger for sale dirt cheap that happened to be a straight drive. Almost tore the clutch out, but you know who taught me? Me.

My point is you're assuming quite a bit. Also, as others have pointed out, the ability to drive a stick fits with his character more than anyone else on the show. That's why I called BS.

I thought when Alabama wins a national title, Missouri, Vanderbilt and Mississippi State could claim that title as their own.

Aren't those the new rules?

I'm just proud of the fact that (with the exception of Duke) VT gave every single one of those ACC teams fits in the regular season.

We could see all 6 teams move on to the Elite 8 after Thursday and Friday. Probably will not happen, but would be cool.

I have no problem being a part of the chest bumping now as it speaks to the level of competition we faced all season long. Not only that but we finished better in the regular season, came into the acc tournament higher and finished better than some of the acc teams in the big dance. And while I say that, I see this team only continuing to improve next year.
