Are you referring to hoops or football, because that wouldn't make sense for hoops.

So does Cameron or JPJ sell out mid-week for non marquee games? I doubt it.

If you want to expand Cassel, that's a fair opinion to have. However, I don't think it's wise to depend on the people of Roanoke to populate the open seats.

OT, but do you have a full resolution file of that panoramic of Torg? It looks like it's from a person site/collection?

I wasn't disputing the metro area ration differences between A-town and Roanoke. The point I was making is that the seating at Cassell should be expanded in the 11k-13k range.

My sister went to ASU and it was definitely a second Blacksburg for me. She still gets hell though for not following big bros footsteps. I mean c'mon campus is one big GoT castle. House Hokie They'll get after ya.

So my primary take away from that article was in the comments. The first comment reads...

Thank you Virginia for taking Bronco from us. He was a good coach but I couldn't stand his weird ideas.

A LOLUVA fan then responds with the following statement...

as a UVA fan, I say he can strip them of whatever he wants, as long as we get W's. Hoos still dream of the Tiki Barber and James Farrior days...that was 20 years ago

Theoretically, Gag Tech should have a bigger arena than UGa because they are right smack-dab in the middle of A-town.

There's significantly more UGA fans in Atlanta than GT fans.

Every comment is spot on.. I am really looking forward to seeing what Ford does this year. With the gut feeling that the starting QB will be Evans, I believe the ceiling for Ford this year is endless. Have a great feeling about the 2016 season!

And for the first time in recorded history, a student at LOLUVa is actually being requested to earn something and not have it given to them.

The student body is still trying to figure out how to handle this news.

I'm just glad my #1 jersey is relevant again. This new offense will allow him to escape from defenses and flex his muscles. It could be a fun expedition this year if there is good team fusion. The numbers this year for Ford could call for a fiesta if someone decides they want to be a good QB. Mustang.

Agreed. I attended the VT - Duke game in 2012 when we lost in OT. My ears were ringing after leaving Cameron Indoor. (Side Note: My Father-In-Law scored floor seats under the basket. I got to pat Erick Green on the shoulder after his layup and the foul. We can be seen at the 26 and 27 second mark rocking our VT gear: https://youtu.be/sz372sFUfwo?t=25) That place was LOUD.

I was at our game against Miami a few weeks ago and Cassell was rocking! I don't get to attend but one or two games a year, but it was the loudest I had heard that place since watching us upset #1 UNC. It's great having Cassell rocking again and a smaller venue definitely helps with the noise level.

I see no reason to expand until the demand is there.

I'd rather have a smaller, filled coliseum than a larger one with empty seats, especially for big games.

It's pretty clear we don't need to expand the coliseum in order to recruit. So let's build the team first, and develop the venue accordingly.

I sure am liking what Buzz has done.

At least i only had them to the sweet sixteen....actually was the only of my 4 losses yesterday that i had going past the round of 32......

Just because another school does something stupid doesn't mean VT should. I don't care how great the basketball team gets. Selling out a 13,000 seat arena in Blacksburg will not happen for midweek non marque games.

And NOT expanding the seating for the arena says you should "sell yourself short" which makes the athletic program appear short-sighted and unambitious. Theoretically, Gag Tech should have a bigger arena than UGa because they are right smack-dab in the middle of A-town. Also, other than the obvious deep pockets, your own explanation punctures a massive whole in your theory with Bamy. What major met area are they close to, Birmingham? Please. Their hoops doesn't have a massive cult following either.

I watched the game from my couch and now a little bit of me felt like I was there.

This is what I was hoping to do, have people enjoy/feel the experience without being there. I always enjoy reading people's experiences at Tech games and other events, so I definitely encourage people to write this type of post! Thanks for the input and especially the ticket Joe!

In response to where my seat was, I was at midcourt, about half way down from the top row. I wasn't at all disappointed in the seat and could see the game very well. Don't ask me why I didn't sit in the student section...I went for the midcourt seat straightaway (it being a general admission game), and it didn't even occur to me that I should have gone student section until mid way through the first half.

Not to be a geography douche, but Decatur is less than 5 miles closer to Athens than downtown/midtown Atlanta. Most of the suburban sprawl is north of the city, and no more accessable than downtown. With the exception Lawrence, there really isn't any major population between Atl and Athens.

But your point is correct - UGA's fan presence in the greater Atlanta area is larger than that of Virginia Tech in any one city, much less any town/city within 100 miles of Blacksburg.

I literally went to App for the same reasons! Awesome to hear I wasn't the only one!
