Wow, that's less money than I make and I'm in the fucking Army.
It's all about playing your cards right
I wouldn't know Comey from Adam, but that quote, especially the part about Comey having a background in selling insurance, struck me more as an instance of a man who wanted to be wined and dined and given a sales pitch. From everything I've heard, it sounds like Burden is way more business, straight to the point, directly to the recruits themselves than treating the head coach as a gatekeeper. Burden's Twitter presence certainly seems to support a more direct approach to the players themselves.
Nothing against Comey, but his quote sounded more like he wanted to work with a recruiter who was going to go out to dinner and spend four hours just bullshitting. And in that regard, I definitely think Stinespring was cut from that cloth.
Just my $0.02, but I understood it that Stiney was very charismatic, where as Zohn is a little more soft spoken. People are drawn to charisma.
First "quality ass" and now Hookers. What is this site coming too....

couldn't picture Saban/Jimbo/Harbaugh taking the time, with their entire staff no less, to meet, greet, and teach about their respective philosophies, but they might do something similar.
They do/did:
Unlike the Chesapeake clinic, Fuente and the coaches joined a pre-existing event, the Nike "Coach of the Year" clinic, at a Herndon hotel instead of hosting their own gathering. Other speakers included Alabama's Nick Saban, SMU's Chad Morris and UVA's Bronco Mendenhall, but the Hokies stood out by bringing their entire staff to the event.

# | Justin Fuente and Staff Embark on Series of Coaching Clinics to Build a Brand in Virginia X2, in years past I would use an offensive series to mix another drink, grab some chow, bathroom etc. etc.
Nice! Great Share. I read this article ( http://grantland.com/features/hard-knocks-playing-defense-with-tcus-gary... ) not too long ago and was wondering if they were ever going to sit down with TCU.
Id love to hear from someone with experience how much our coverage philosophy differs from Pattersons?
It's in the tittie title... /s
He's a done deal then!! Put it in the books YAAA!
I saw that number and figured a couple scenarios might be in play: reached for my calculator.
Dude took nearly an 85% paycut. That is astronomical.
I seriously doubt he's getting any type of severance package from VT. If you remember, he wasn't fired. He just wasn't retrained. Everyone's contract was up for renewal this January year (except Bud) and they weren't renewed. I doubt very much if any of the outgoing coaches receive any financial benefits from VT moving forward.
I have to imagine that he has saved some money, but going from salary X to 1/7X is going to be a huge hit for anyone. Harrisonburg isn't going to be much cheaper than Blacksburg. His family's quality of life almost certainly will take a hit.
I do think he's counting on moving up quickly. He'll need to. I can't imagine supporting a family on 50K. Even in a place as affordable as HBurg. I would be concerned that if going from TE coach at the FBS D1 level to TE coach at the FCS level is the best he can do then he might not last much longer in the industry without some serious lifestyle changes. Prospective employers may look at that move as a big red flag.
Only time will tell. I wish him the best, but this isn't a good look for him. I hope things get better for him but I'm not very optimistic.
Pimpin aint easy!!!!
New theory: Could this be related to one of Buzz's assistants getting a head coaching gig? On Tech Talk Live last night, Buzz was talking about his assistants and mentioned that Isaac Chew turned down a head coaching offer last year and that he believes he'll be a head coach sooner within 50 days.
This makes no sense but I love it anyway.
Yay he referenced us without the University at the end!
First you spend $84 on quality ass, then you start recruiting Hookers. Feeling like Louisville up in here.

Recruiting Hookers now huh? What are we, the Louisville Basketball team?
I'm not getting mad, Rece. Because what you said is so incorrect it's laughable.
Three comments and no one has mentioned his last name?
"We've seen Bud Foster's defense, but I think the biggest thing was what type of offense would Virginia Tech be running now, since Bud Foster's been retained," Ferebee said. "I think that's what everybody wanted to see and everybody got an opportunity to see that."
I'm picturing Bud Foster's defense booth looking something like this at the clinic:

Wow. I hope he invested wisely over his gravy train years.
Agreed, I wonder if theyre looking for that size or if its something else theyre looking at, I know Cornelsen and Fuente said the biggest thing they saw in Paxton Lynch was his quick release, and when they saw him in person they were shocked he didnt have big time offers, they said his arm in person had them salivating, or maybe these kids have some intangibles we dont get to see, but also happen to just by circumstance be 6'3+.
I guess well see here as QB recruiting continues.
It will be interesting to see how many they bring in this class, I'd imagine 1 maybe 2?

I'd agree if he were at a more visible program... but he's not. Those are some long odds with a low reward. It's rare enough that a position coach gets an HC gig. It's even rarer that an FCS position coach gets an HC gig.
