That is disgusting. I can sort of "get" it at the Power 5 D1 level since those salaries pay for themselves. But I doubt a HS coach making over 100k pays for itself. It just sends a message that the fb program is more important than you know, academics.
If you're a Broncs, Falcs, Saints or Bucs, or anti-Cam fan, it's pretty freakin hilarious. I found it both funny AND disturbing at the same time. I also fwd this to my fam to show how my passion and reaction to losses pales in comparison.
Insulin makes everything grow.
just wanted to highlight the comment which begged the question. Hopefully that's enough to point you in the direction of the joke.

there is a significant difference between being upset and yelling and stamping your feet vs physically destructing over a thousand dollars worth of household items. I don't believe that this was a legitimate rampage. For one, the camera was already rolling and the "son" made little effort to stop the "dad." I have to imagine that they were planning on replacing that television with something bigger and better and instead of throwing the old one away they decided to make a "funny rampage" video. Plus he had some random objects which are great for bashing electronics conveniently accessible for the rampage. Seems staged to me. Maybe a small part of me just hopes this whole thing is staged for the sake of humanity. It scares me to think there are people out there who have legitimately serious anger-management problems and can be triggered by a game. Yeah, I've gotten upset over some VT losses in the past but I have yet to physically harm anyone or anything.
I believe credit goes to @Hokie20 here. That graphic was created a couple years ago.
yeah I don't think anyone in this mini-thread is suggesting that a move from WR coach to DB coach or RB coach would be an off-the-wall type of move. I think the question is why move a current coach we have (who was just announced to the RB coach position in the last month or so) to a different position to make room for a new RB coach when we can just go ahead and hire a DB coach?
I think everyone in this mini-thread understands that a football coach can coach multiple positions. The theme seems to be that RB coach is kind of near the bottom of the totem pole. Whether or not that is really fair, I couldn't say. So if we moved Burden to RB coach because Fuente liked him and wanted to keep him around (for whatever reason, be it recruiting or something else) that's not necessarily because he's not a good coach but because it's an easy fit. Anybody can be a RB coach. Now we just need to go out and find a real DB coach.
If you're[anyone] a Hokie fan, we've ALL felt this way, probably more than once.
Imagine being the young fella picking one of these young ladies up for prom in a few years and meeting Mr. Hilgart at the door.
Ask is a noun - see http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/us/definition/american_english/ask :
noun
[IN SINGULAR] Back to top
1A request, especially for a donation:
it was an awkward ask for more funding
MORE EXAMPLE SENTENCES
I know it's a cheeky ask, and close to the point, but your help could make all the difference...
Getting people to sit up until midnight to see him puff the new series could be a bigger ask.
That includes recruiting people, and in the technology sector, that has been a difficult ask.
2US The price at which an item, especially a financial security, is offered for sale:
[AS MODIFIER]: ask prices for bonds
MORE EXAMPLE SENTENCES
The difference between the bid and the ask prices is referred to as the spread.
Typically, if you are going to buy a stock, then you will pay a price near the posted ask.
They stand ready to buy and sell Nasdaq stocks, and they are required to post their bid and ask prices.
Technically that's "something."
Puns are fun either you CANTOR you can make good ones.
Well I was definitely trying to be snarky but now I think there was also a joke I missed.
I agree that's it's a little bit of everything. I suspect his recruiting chops were important, I suspect Fuente saw potential, and the transition from WR coach to RB is hardly a quantum leap or unusual.
not uncommon for the HS football coach to be one of the highest paid folks in some of the smaller communities in the southeast. having the occasional big time recruit doesn't hurt either.
Yet we (SC) have one of the WORST education standards in the entire country, SHOCKER. side on that my oldest is 4 getting ready for kindergarten and the state standards are a joke. At 4 years old they want them to be able to draw a straight line, crossed lines (an X) and be learning their ABC's. I mean she was being taught that at 2 in Ohio and when we moved down here the preschool we picked does the same. But state standards in SC are bad.
As someone who grew up in the upstate of SC and still lives there, this is very much the case for big time 4A programs. At my high school the coach was the AD as well, didn't teach, and made around six figures if not over.
Here's a pretty cool perspective of just how massive of a venue this will be for a football game. College football has finally achieved the equivalent of the Final Four being hosted at Dallas Stadium.

this.....
can't be real....
right?
Frankly, I just don't think you tried hard enough, Bud.

That's what most the 4A and up programs in the Upstate of SC pay their coaches.
I was celebrating earlier today, but the "enthusiasm" is wearing off.

I love that he already is saying "we" when talking about Tech and getting back to a Top-25 team.
