Absolutely true. I have posted on this before...
As longtime rec league/Pope Wraner coach Sid Pearl told me, "I don't recruit kids, kids recruit me".
Which is the truth. I never thought Scott was actively recruiting, but when kids/parents want to play together, they are going to figure out how to get it done.

# | AD Whit Babcock Promises Uniform, Fundraising, Facilities Changes Coming in 2016 Again I weigh in on the Old Fart take on uniforms. I don't care about them. I never heard anyone discussing them until I started reading this site a year ago. The level of comment indicates a big level of interest, but it is honestly the least thing in the world of Hokie that matters to me. Now, do I like the traditional, eschew the sensational? Yep, no doubt, but only because of this site would I make anything of it, really. Otherwise, my wife and I would probably just see special colors on the field and agree that we like the traditional colors better, and that'd be the end of it. I know, I know, the kids like it...recruiting...etc., but for me, I just like the idea of letting the program be the thing, the University being the thing, the tradition being the thing, because I think that's what I always wanted for the Hokies. National recognition like Notre Dame, Penn State, for examples. You see the field and the teams and you know who's playing. I know, go back to my jeans, flannel shirts, work boots and jeans jacket and leave the rest of the Hokie world to progress. Just don't think that most fans really give a hoot. I don't believe they do.
There is only one or two other Catholic high schools with football teams in the Tidewater. It's just weirdly worded.
I want that to happen like you wouldn't believe.
It would have to be WCAC in the DC area to start with I assume, just makes for long bus rides, but if you are already willing to fly kids to games, whats a few long bus rides. It would put them up against Gonzaga, Dematha, and Archbishop Carroll at a minimum. Although I wouldnt put it past Scott to have a plan to create a Catholic League in the 757 to bypass the recruiting issues but still be filled with talent. He would have to get alot of people on board for that though, even with his sway down there.
Yea it actually feels wrong. Those kids were huge Hokies and now the SEC is going to corrupt them.

This may have something to do with JMU's plan to jump to Division I across all sports.Their administration back in September indicated that they were hoping to move up sometime in the next 24 months to DI Football, so at Texas State, Withers has an already established DI program, although only four years so, so he doesnt have to go through the transition pains, and instead can focus on building up at Texas State. He also has plenty of connections to that area, having coached at Tulane, Texas, New Orleans Saints, and Southern Miss. At JMU, he was facing having to become a doormat program to start out with more than likely, fighting for games on his schedule and enduring the transition structurally, mentally, and administratively. That and probably facing several years of losing seasons doesnt do much for your resume, especially when you already have 27 years of coaching under your belt. I cant speak to the dollars of the two positions either so there might be something there as well.
This is really weird to look at. Maybe its because Shane's kids/ Frank's grandkids have been in tons of Snapchats and Twitter posts the past few years, but it feels like we just lost a big part of the VT family.
That doesn't mean anything. Shane wants to be a HC if JMU an FCS power school in the best FCS conference offers him the HC job he is there.

That's a huge development. A lot of 2017 talent at Ocean Lakes. One of VT's biggest targets is Khalan Laborn that is following Coach Scott to Bishop Sullivan Catholic.
Think it's an opportunity for another great TKP interview feature of Coach Scott.
NFL staff will worry less about his personnel and more about route running. He will get better at that running routes full speed versus being a lead blocker, which Fuente expects from his HBack

I agree. I think Shane would be a great fit at JMU. If he does well, he could easily make the jump to P5 head coach.
He won't pass up a HC job though.
Fwiw Shane has already been named the special teams/tight ends coach at Georgia.
I have no doubt both of them will try and get an interview.

# | AD Whit Babcock Promises Uniform, Fundraising, Facilities Changes Coming in 2016 Yeah pretty much along the my line of thought, that isnt a uniform template you get rid of, its got lots of promise and would be an awesome special occasion look if done right.
Most anthracite is mined in eastern PA. Bituminous black would be a more accurate color.
