Pro-tip if we go to Charlotte. Hit up Mert's Heart and Soul downtown near the Epicenter. You'll probably be down there at some point anyways and it's some great southern soul food. The MV's always stayed near there for ACC Championships and I made sure to hit up Mert's whenever I possibly could.

Yea I agree, big diff tho moorehead left, shane is staying in some form for now. When he leaves, hey whatever.

I've been to Charlotte and Annapoils for a bowl game. Charlotte wasn't bad, but Annapolis was a better experience.

Are there any former Hokie LBs who've excelled in Bud's system that would be candidates to fill Brown's role? I'd love to see someone like Cody Grimm come aboard as a position coach.

It's college football. As often as not, teams are going to be having a new QB.

I think all that's true but isn't shane in his 30's now? Sounds pretty high schoolish to me, I haven't seen stiney throwing temper tantrums and I know he's pretty worried and upset about what he will do.

I wouldn't be too surprised if the Vault gets filled pretty well considering the Beamer and vicinity situation if we're picked. Of course it would also depend on who else would be sharing the stadium with us, but I could see it being a bit more popular than most bowls from a ticket sales perspective.

I think this Fuente hire means that we need to get used to the idea of losing Torrian Gray in the not-too-distant future. He's too good a coach to remain a position coach forever. He's going to be a defensive coordinator somewhere, and it's starting to look like the position at VT will not be available anytime soon.

yeah I agree with this. Breakups are never pretty. I feel for all of the coaches who are going to be displaced. It really sucks for them but it's part of the business and I'm sure they understand that. I genuinely hope they all land on their feet somewhere. I'm sure they all will. Despite the challenges they've faced and some of their shortcomings they're all stand-up guys and they will do well to carry what they've learned from Frank with them in their careers. I can appreciate that this is a particularly challenging time for Shane but he's going to be just fine. I could see him becoming a head coach somewhere some day. That being said, I think he would be wise to use this over-lap time to begin building a relationship with Fuente. I think, even if Shane doesn't work for him directly, that he could benefit greatly from getting into Fuente's circle. I want to see Shane succeed and I believe being friends with a guy like Fuente could be monumental in his success. Having a guy to bounce ideas off of and consult who might have a little bit of a different perspective than you're used to can't be a bad thing.

I bet Shane and CSL are doing a lot of bonding right now. It really has to be hard on Shane, but he's fortunate to have had the run and fortune that he has had.

I would be pretty bummed if I were told that I had to leave this area for a strange, new place.

Don't know if I'd call the UVA job "laying low". Unless you're referring to the Coastal division standings.

You don't think this is an emotional time for him? He is leaving the town and school he grew up at, where he spent 20 plus years of his life. He wanted to raise his family, have them grow up with grandma and grandpa. Now that isn't happening and he has to find a new job and move his entire family just after Christmas, find a job and tell your kids well guys Merry Christmas but we are moving. Cut the man a break.

I'm pretty sure he meant that Charlotte McKinney has two things that add to the total...

see i like your fans to much...cant we just beat the shit out of michigan and you guys beat UVA for with us?

FTFY. It should be pretty clear by now that we don't need help on this front.

Lame? I dropped Moorehead when he left, not out of disrespect or trying to make any statement, his updates just were no longer relevant to me. It's all a matter of parsing what information and communication you want to have. If Shane is moving on, he's not going to pay attention to anyone at VT that wasn't already a friend. He certainly won't need to hear updates from Fuente about how things are going with football, I suspect he already has another connection.

We already have Shibest coming to coach ST and TE's so the Locksley discussion is irrelevant

Yeah I couldn't remember if the Military Bowl was the one in Annapolis or the one in San Diego (Poinsettia?), but I'd rather see us in the DC area. Makes it a trip I could take.

It's funny having gone through this now and occasitionally looking at UVA rumors...any time you see "blank is very interested in the job" it seems more than likely just an agent throwing their name out, "Rich Rod very interested in (insert school)" "Kirby smart interested in blank" "Dan Mullen interested in blank" the ones who didn't have any of that fluff seem legit ones to move/stay. Fuente/Herman. It sounds like Herman was very close to accepting the South Carolina job, the other ones just sound like their trying to get a raise.

I certainly thought 2016 was going to be the year, and I think on offense the talent we have supports that. But I was miffed when we picked up Brewer, not because he was a bad pickup, but because it means that 2016 will have tons of skill and experience on offense but a first year signal caller. I thought this was going to be the third year starting for Ford/Durkin/Motley, but instead we're going to end up with a new starter.

I still think the talent across the offense is some of the best we've seen in a while, and think we should improve next year, but oh what could have been if we had an experienced QB this year.
