Whit said at the presser this morning that none of the Hokie Club money goes to salaries. It does go to facilities and scholarships, though.

Our current 9 assistant positions:
OC/QB
RB
TE/Recruiting
OL
WR
DC/ILB
Defense Secondary
DL
OLB

As of right now, Bud is staying, and two Memphis assistants (currently listed as WR and TE/ST) are coming along. So that means, at least two current guys are going. And we know more guys from Memphis are coming.

Based on tweets above, it looks like Cornell is gone (OLB). Some speculation that position would be used for ST coach, but if that guy is already TE coach, it doesn't look like we need that extra position.

The Memphis coaching positions:
co-OC/RB
co-OC/QB
WR
TE/ST
OL
DC/LB
DL
Safties
CB

At both places, it's 5-4 offense to defense.

Damn, still too early to speculate, other than I think most of the defense staff will stay, and most of the offense staff will go.

100% agree, key injuries and a lack of recruiting OLine from 2010-2012 ish really hampered us. I think that's why people have been so frustrated with the offense over the years, it felt like there were times that play-calling fed into our weaknesses not our strengths.

For example, running WR screens and sweeps when we have true freshman recievers who simply dont have the NCAA strength to block effectively. I dont want to hamper on the past and be negative towards a staff and athelets who didn't live up to their potential not because of a lack of effort, Loeffler and Co. worked their butt off.

But, I completely agree, it is very exciting to hear.

fungus that is made of incompetence

I need to find any reason possible to use this phrase.

I really have to wonder why, with our CS and Engineering prowess, VT cannot come up with a first-class software platform that can integrate apps, financial stuff, scheduling, etc. Maybe we're moving this way, but it seems we're still very behind the times.

As another marketing person, I think youre 110% wrong on this. The target audience of those accounts arent 40-50+ year old alumni.

and potential recruits of the greatness that comes from Blacksburg

Exactly!!!! All this is a PR move for recruits. All recruits think they are/will be NFL caliber players (most are not). By displaying the HOKIES in the NFL on Sundays via twiter and other media outlets is just to show these high school kids what has come from VT in the past. It is almost exactly the same tactic Calipari uses at Kentucky and guess what he seems to be running a pretty successful basketball program.

THIS.

Banner is simply terrible at everything. Not only is it terrible at everything, it is everywhere. It permeates nearly every aspect of the administrative apparatus at VT. Its like a fungus that is made of incompetence.

We beat one flex option offense already this year. We can do it again

Thanks, but that's not going to stop me from putting my preference in the comment box. If nothing else they'll know that the main reason I'm donating is to help with the additional financial burdens of hiring top-tier coaches.

This is where it gets complex. A college football Twitter account has to cater to both young athletes, who are very in-tune with social media and trends, and fans, who care mostly about information. If you look at a recruit's follow list, it's often got a ton of schools and coaches. So those accounts have to be "part of the crowd," yet stand out and connect with the recruit in a way that makes sense to him. But on the flip side, those of us who are in it for information have to not feel alienated by some unintelligible stuff that only a high schooler understands. Personally, I have no problem with VT on social media; they seem to be striking an OK balance for me.

I'm pretty sure Navy is already locked into that bowl.

From the Military Bowl site:

Navy, if it is bowl eligible and not selected to participate in one of the New Year's Six bowl games, will represent the American Athletic Conference against an Atlantic Coast Conference team.
