I'd much rather have UVA be at least fairly good, even if it meant us losing to them once a decade...

This means we landed the best up and coming coach available. A coach who didn't even field other offers once ours came across his desk.

I hope this helps our fanbase understand where we fall in the national picture. We aren't nearly as small time as many would lead you to believe.

You know, I think that London could have been successful at another school. I think that it's the environment and support (or lack there of) that contributed to his lack of success. Plus I would love to watch him go somewhere else and be successful just to rub it into loluva's face!

Bud signed a 5-year deal last winter, $900K a year. He's currently top 5 in assistant defensive coaches, subject to coaching changes this year. Thus, that's probably not changing, unless him and Whit agreed upon something to entice Foster to stay on.

The other assistants will probably be paid the same, maybe a slight annual bump ($200K more for assistants this year). The new assistants will likely fall below the defensive assistants.

her coverage of the ACC got herself a very nice promotion at ESPN, and now she's basically the ESPN expert of the college football playoff process.

She got her longtime dream of a Clemson/FSU dominated ACC... She was excellent at making sure we never got credit during our first 8 years of dominating the ACC.

She's been on Sportscenter for every weekend over most of this season. She is on Sunday AM a lot. Well, thank god the Playoff System debate/discussion only lasts for another week....

I actually disagree. I can think of a lot of coaches who had great runs after replacing a fired head coach (and inheriting a roster like USC's it wouldn't be too hard), but ultimately showed no capability of building a team and being the guy long term after the initial honeymoon period was over.

Ed Orgeron took over an Ole Miss program and did extremely poorly, going 10-25 over 3 years. He had and has not proven any ability to build and maintain a program as the head coach, and frankly I think USC made the right call looking elsewhere. The not so great call was getting Sark, who turned out to have issues with alcoholism.

I'm guess the biggest difference between Fuente's contract and Beamer's contract is there's no language designated raises for assistant coaches every season. Otherwise, pretty straight forward.

Recruiting: These guys have been fishing pretty deep in the 2* waters at Memphis.

That's great for player development, but they are about to be introduced to recruiting a different class of guys. We will see how they will do.

If we get Cornerley for QB's and Dickey stays at Memphis, we can slide Wiggins to RB and go find the best WR coach we can who is known for his recruiting. I'm assuming Vice will come over to coach OL. We may have opened up that spot on defense by not retaining Cornell so that we could add another recruit-first guy.

I find it embarrassing when athletic departments do this. basically you're waiving a white flag and saying you either suck at your job or hoping that if the hire fails you can pass the blame to the search firm.

I think this game was a pretty classic case of Loeffler having a great gameplan, but not one that fit what the personnel could do. UVA had no safety help over the top, and instead pushed the safety up as an extra defender to stop the run and bet that the combination of a leaky offensive line and Brewer's shaky long ball would mean we couldn't challenge them deep. We were determined to hit that deep ball anyways, and it resulted in sacks and a lot of incompletions. Luckily, the o-line came up big at the end of the game and those plays opened up, but it took an awfully long time to execute something the defense was daring us to do. Still, with a new regime coming in, a win's a win.

In that case, Dell Curry should come out with a book about Fatherhood in NBA.... pass it around to all the players to read as rookies.

(not saying all NBA players are bad dads but he could definitely help with all the gold diggers in the NBA)

Tough situation at Georgia - they let a guy go who won games and got them to the Championship. Whoever comes in will have the same standards in a very short amount of time.

If it's the Belk Bowl, there is very little that could stop me from going.

I work with a handful of Hoos, and they're all honestly convinced their next coach will either be Mullen or Richt.. Lol
