I am excited to have him on board. He seems to be a great fit for the culture and what the program is about and I can't wait for the spring game to see some new stuff.
I think he's saying the same kind of things Beamer said when he took the job here. That makes me really excited
Maybe she just couldn't get over the fact he played for and got cut by the Eagles.
It's also pretty smart to get the best DC you can, and there are few better than Foster.
If I remember correctly, his contract states that when he retires, he gets a position with the athletic department for 8 years at $250K/year. I believe this supersedes the remainder of his contract as coach.
Not even that, as someone who is piecing together a new staff, the last part makes sense. I'd hope if the same staff is with him when his contract gets revisited, he looks at getting them all raises, but starting out, I doubt even Beamer looked out for his assistants right away.
Fuente is a tremendous hire by Whit. I feel really good about him being the face of VT football.
I do hope he likes sequels, though.

Just went you think she is all but a goner...
I'm sure the rest of the ACC would have been very impressed by this, if they could hear it over the sound of them sh*tting themselves.
I live in SC I'm not familiar what those are.
Orgeron also said that he learned a lot during his time at Ole Miss, and during his short tenure at USCw, he enacted a lot of the changes to his approach that he had problems with at Ole Miss.
I think USCw made a mistake when they didn't extend Orgeron, and not they're trying to make up for it by extending this interim coach. I think they'll be chasing their dreams as long as Haden is the AD there.
As a low-experience HC (<5 years), that last bit makes sense. When his current contract expires, I could see him lobbying for assistant raises in his new contract if he should make it the entire 6 years and still be a viable HC.
You can say that all you want, but again, that's something the HC has zero control over. You might as well tell them how angry you are that it's raining outside, they can't do a darn thing about it. All of that stuff is handled on the other side of campus, and it's infuriating for everyone involved. I think it's something Sands is getting around to fixing, but there's been significant pushback. Again, university politics suck. They suck mucho.
God I'm so excited.
Does Beamer continue to get paid through 2019? Isn't that the year his current contract was supposed to end?
"expert"

Memphis has 2 OCs, but I believe Dickey calls the plays this year. (He's currently interim head coach).
One of my favorite parts was him talking about how Virginia Tech was the only job he pursued because he wanted to raise his daughters in a good community.
This guy is here for the long haul. He's got the chance to rebuild this program the right way, while maintaining focus on things that Beamer and Co always focused on: developing men first, players second and dominating the state of Virginia in recruiting.
I love this hire. I loved the press conference. This is gonna be a fun team.
Well, that was a fun run for both of us. I enjoyed my view a tad better than you did, amirite?
So... WE BAK!
I think this means that Houston is looking to get into the Big12, and the Big12 may be interested in having them.
VT and almost every other school is still waiting for their NFL players to give money. It doesn't really happen.
This guy said all the right things: football success, building the players into functioning adults, building a sense of community, identifying and recruiting talent in the state of Virginia. This is going to be a great fit for the university.
THIS!

Would the hiring of a new HC affect Foster's recently extended contract? Foster was just recently given something like a five or six year extension, which I assume he will continue to work under.
