The thing with Fuente though is he seems like he isn't a very "high profile" kind of guy. He also seems more family oriented and could possibly be more content in Blacksburg for the long haul. He said something in an old video interview I watched the other day about how he isn't an attention seeking person and he just wants to coach football, recruit great kids and win games.

So...other than Bud to Illinois, there doesn't seem to be any overlap with our prime candidates (according to "sources"). Seems like all Whit has to do is pick a favorite, find the $$, and convince them we have greener grass.

Totally OT, but if your username refers to a Warthog, then that is one of the best usernames I've seen.

Well yeah, all of the coaching news has been speculation as that is all it could be at this point. No one knows but WB and his choice at this point if one has even been made.

Besides Herman jumping to a better school, he looks lower risk even if he hasn't been a HC for that long. He's from a great coaching tree, is an offensive genius and apparently can recruit his ass off. If you can recruit, develop, and coach .. And if he kept Bud and helped Bud get some better prospects, the head coaching responsibilities are much much easier. If be fine with Fuente though...seems like a great coach and I think he'd have a better chance of keeping Bud.

If what this Lawson guy says is true, the key here for me is "as soon as Tuesday." If it's already a lock with Fuente, and this guy knows it, it makes no sense to postpone the announcement beyond the first of next week. If it's Herman, it could be "as soon as Tuesday" if Houston loses today, or after next weekend if he wins (and he has that offense humming right now against Navy).

A week ago he identified the coach as a great QB coach, great recruiter, and bringing the spread. The recruiting aspect doesn't fit with Fuente. And this is a few days before we hear that Herman withdraws his name from USCe. Who knows for sure, but things are certainly about to get interesting.

I'm big on the ACC vs. SEC match-ups, so I'm really intrigued by Clemson and USCe and GT and UGA. Clemson's always struggled with USCe, so I'm curious as to how it'll look since they're #1. I've gotta pull for the conference. But I am rooting for one SEC team, which is Kentucky. My whole family is from there and I'm a lifelong UK fan in mainly basketball, but football too (rather pointless, but still).

I mean, I would love for Kendall to be headed to Carolina next year to play alongside Josh Norman.

But I am pretty sure he's not going to be available with the final pick of the 1st round.

Could Tech pull this one off? Sure, but will they? I think its unlikely that with our inexperienced personnel that we will pull out a victory here, even at a neutral location. Tech probably falls in this one, 72-66 and will likely face an Illinois team that gets upset by UAB in their first game of this tournament.

If we keep within 6 points of Iowa State tonight I'd be thrilled. I'd take that in a heartbeat.
