So...other than Bud to Illinois, there doesn't seem to be any overlap with our prime candidates (according to "sources"). Seems like all Whit has to do is pick a favorite, find the $$, and convince them we have greener grass.
LMAO
Herman has grown a half way decent goatee. True, Bud Foster would scoff at it, but it is still better than anything I have seen from Fuente.
Totally OT, but if your username refers to a Warthog, then that is one of the best usernames I've seen.
no... it wasn't Luck -he went to Stanford... Huhderrrrrr.
(my bad, couldn't help it)
thanks for linking -I DO love fan-delusion... I appreciate the fervor over one's school/coach, that shows the fanbase is growing... but, yeah.
They do have a 6'10 Junior Center but he has rarely played in their first three games. There are two 6'9 guys on the roster as well. The two that are not starters in this three man group have a total of 12 minutes played in three games, scoring 2 points and 3 rebounds between them.
What has Herman done that Fuente has not done, people talk up Herman like he's Nick Saban or something. I mean, I would be happy for sure if he came to Virginia Tech, but Fuente has done just as well, if not better.
Wasn't Meyer third string and the second string got sent home for missing curfew the night before? He let his teammate down just as much as Cody did if you ask me.
Well yeah, all of the coaching news has been speculation as that is all it could be at this point. No one knows but WB and his choice at this point if one has even been made.
Yes and normally SC beats the Citadel.
Herman. Herman. Herman.

# | Dan Wolken tweets Fuente to VT "is happening" but stops short of saying it is a done deal. The key is locking down a buyout that would make it painful for a school to pay. If the guys that good so be it..Fuente could be in the same position in 3 years. With a great coach you always have to worry about that.

# | Dan Wolken tweets Fuente to VT "is happening" but stops short of saying it is a done deal. Besides Herman jumping to a better school, he looks lower risk even if he hasn't been a HC for that long. He's from a great coaching tree, is an offensive genius and apparently can recruit his ass off. If you can recruit, develop, and coach .. And if he kept Bud and helped Bud get some better prospects, the head coaching responsibilities are much much easier. If be fine with Fuente though...seems like a great coach and I think he'd have a better chance of keeping Bud.
Whoever wants to stay at VT long term is who I want as coach. Would it be bad if the new OC kept Searels and Burden?
If what this Lawson guy says is true, the key here for me is "as soon as Tuesday." If it's already a lock with Fuente, and this guy knows it, it makes no sense to postpone the announcement beyond the first of next week. If it's Herman, it could be "as soon as Tuesday" if Houston loses today, or after next weekend if he wins (and he has that offense humming right now against Navy).
A week ago he identified the coach as a great QB coach, great recruiter, and bringing the spread. The recruiting aspect doesn't fit with Fuente. And this is a few days before we hear that Herman withdraws his name from USCe. Who knows for sure, but things are certainly about to get interesting.
I don't know whether to be happy or sad that all of this could be over within 5 days.
#Hokies, get ready to end the message board speculation. Announcement coming as soon as Tuesday. #WhitIsTheMan— Bill Lawson (@Bill_Lawson_TX) November 27, 2015
I'm big on the ACC vs. SEC match-ups, so I'm really intrigued by Clemson and USCe and GT and UGA. Clemson's always struggled with USCe, so I'm curious as to how it'll look since they're #1. I've gotta pull for the conference. But I am rooting for one SEC team, which is Kentucky. My whole family is from there and I'm a lifelong UK fan in mainly basketball, but football too (rather pointless, but still).
I mean, I would love for Kendall to be headed to Carolina next year to play alongside Josh Norman.
But I am pretty sure he's not going to be available with the final pick of the 1st round.
I mean, lets be honest, if we're in a position to nitpick between Fuente and Herman, with either willing to sign a final offer and its just up to us to make a decision, we're in a really good spot for the future. You're practically talking about 1a and 1b nationally for hottest up and coming coaches available.
Could Tech pull this one off? Sure, but will they? I think its unlikely that with our inexperienced personnel that we will pull out a victory here, even at a neutral location. Tech probably falls in this one, 72-66 and will likely face an Illinois team that gets upset by UAB in their first game of this tournament.
If we keep within 6 points of Iowa State tonight I'd be thrilled. I'd take that in a heartbeat.
Apparently you don't watch Clemson-SC games much because they are rarely blowouts, and normally won by SC
Very interesting... Herman does sound like a good pedigree coach but may jump to another program later, but I'm on the Fuente bandwagon! What is the difference between the two?

The thing with Fuente though is he seems like he isn't a very "high profile" kind of guy. He also seems more family oriented and could possibly be more content in Blacksburg for the long haul. He said something in an old video interview I watched the other day about how he isn't an attention seeking person and he just wants to coach football, recruit great kids and win games.
