Your point is well taken about the quality of the defense. That being said, I'm not sure if you and I are in disagreement about the expectations for Hokie football, but I think it's ABSOLUTELY necessary that the program change course now. Our current course is miles away from acceptable.

I've been personally watching Bud Foster do great things for our team for well over a decade, and I have been a huge fan. However, it seems to me that people aren't looking at this objectively. Foster has been a great defensive coordinator for years but has been passed over or ignored for head coaching positions that he supposedly pursued in the past. You see it in many fields, people can be great technicians or specialists but lacking in upper management skills required to move up the ladder.
If other schools weren't willing to put faith in his ability to move into a new role -- as a high level manager of an entire team versus focusing on coordinating one side of the ball -- then why would we just assume that our athletic director would give him the shot to move up just based on staying with the school for so long?
Everyone here knows that VT Football is serious business to the school, why would the athletic director promote from within when there is no proven experience as a head coach just based on the "feel good" aspect of it?
I believe that if Foster really wanted to position himself for this job, he should have left 5 years ago and proven his head coaching abilities at a G5 school, only to return when Frank retired.
It doesn't end the debate it just ruined some good pies!
I grew up in Charlottesville. After HS, 37 of my classmates went to LOLUVa. I new all of them (small school), was friends with at least 20 and was close friends with 8 of them. After one semester, all but one of these transformed into arrogant, condescending tool bags. The school doesn't necessarily attract 5 star douche bag talent, it trains them up.

I can make it a little easier. Don't bother with Clemson USC because it's going to be ugly. GT UGA isn't worth watching unless you want to see if a UVA transfer QB can outscore the triple option. Finally unless you're still a big Kyle Tucker fan don't bother with UK vs Louisville as I'm assuming this is football and not basketball.

Knowles was a deep threat who wasn't especially adept at catching the ball. I'm surprised his contributions have been as minimal as they have, but I'm not shocked he's not excelled.
