I was thinking that this might have been leaked to let Whit know Bud is serious about pursuing a head coaching job and dispel the notion that he would want to continue on as a DC at Tech

I'm just going to be nice and say I hope he got his life together. The last few times I saw him downtown he was.....a mess to put it lightly. That said I wish him well. Hokie Nation and all.

Oh I know. I was just implying that there are comic nerds (non offensive) out there that are probably nicknaming it Avengers 3 because it includes the MAJORITY of the Avengers sans Thor, Quicksilver & IncrediHulk. Plus it's introducing some new ones (Winter Soldier and Black Panther).

For the first time all season (minus ohio state i suppose) mother nature is looking favorably on us!

I'll agree the ECU-Pitt-NC State stretch was a rough patch for weather, but other than that, I'd say we've had pretty good weather this season. (Disclaimer: I missed the Miami and BC games but the weather looked good on TV.) Collectively speaking, I'd actually say this November stretch is perhaps the best late season weather we've ever had-- glad that is continuing through Saturday!

See you in Cville!

I think it will depend on market and perceived ability, not experience. I presume he's holding out because he believes Miles/Richt/Strong or some combination may be out. LSU/UGA/Texas/USC all currently pay $4M and above. If there is a big market with multiple big jobs open, and he's the biggest name, the bidding war will ensure he's paid well. If the market is small (only LSU), or Chip Kelly is also on the market, then yea, probably closer to $4M. He can also play the market, waiting for the right opportunity to jump (maybe Texas next year).

The basketball team was a completely different situation- Buzz inherited very little talent in arguably the toughest conference in the country.

On the flipside, our new football coach will be inheriting arguably the most talented team in what is the weakest division in college football. He will also luck out in getting Syracuse as the rotating cross-division opponent in Year 1.

Realistically there's no reason we shouldn't win at LEAST 8 games next season. I hope the new coach is targeting double digit wins and an ACC Coastal title in year 1-- there isn't a whole lot standing in the way.

Morris has been a coordinator for 5 years before moving on. Bud has been a DC for 20 years. Not entirely relevant, but Morris has also ran successful high school teams.

Not to say that Bud would fall into this trap, but people who do the same thing for a very long time fall into a certain groove and it could be hard to get out of. He has great ability to coach a defense, but can he be the face of a program? Maybe.

He will/is/have been given his chance. I'm sure if the people with the know how and money think he can get us back to the ACCCG he will be given the job. If he isn't the best option then someone else will get it.

As mentione by wade, Illini are really struggling. This could be good or bad for a new coach, good in the sense that it may buy more time to turn things around.

The report says he is a candidate, as we have seen, tomorrow it could be someone else. Didn't read this as he is gone at all.

You've really taken that role of TKP Scrooge and run with it. I don't remember you being such a black cloud before the coach search. Just search your posts, every single one is just another version of "I have significant disdain for that thing you just said!"

Your point is a valid one, and it may not have been easily inferred that I wasn't literally saying we should have or would in the future sign all those type of players. But there are like ten ways you could have communicated your counter that would have expressed more respect for the spirit of TKP discourse.

I agree. Just like there was no reason we shouldn't have won at least 8-9 games this season. We had a TON of talent on the team this year and an extremely easy schedule. To be honest, unless the ACC Coastal starts to improve, 8 or 9 wins should really be our floor every season.

And before someone else says it, yes, I'm fully aware we had injuries, but everyone deals with injuries in college football. We still had as much or more talent on the field than all but 1 or 2 teams we played.

After being convincing last round england fell flat on their face this week....ooph
