Technically, my wife is MoFo. My wife helps Patent lawyers file with US Patent & Trademark Office, thus I know a lot of MoFo IP attorneys (although in San Diego). I am actually in law school now to become a patent attorney (but not for MoFo). It's pretty good gig if you want to use your technical degree on a non-traditional platform.

# | Techonomics: How Frank Beamer's Football Program Fuels Southwestern Virginia totally agree about television exposure. but the amount of benefit you got from television was a product of your program's success. to give another example. Utah used to be relatively unknown program and through its on field success and television exposure it is now part of Pac 12. But that could have been the story for any university out west had they won like they did, with coaches like they've had. same is true for VT. television definitely allowed for exposure to go national faster than ever before but it took Beamer to grab that opportunity to take advantage of that tool to reach national exposure and move the program and school to new heights. And while television increased exposure across the board only a few programs managed to accelerate way beyond the average. that comes down to the big whistle himself.
And as Alex and Alum07, myself and others have pointed out it has meant significant change to the university, directly or indirectly.
All else fails just hit the box office in Cassell. I highly doubt the game is sold out.
True, but pairing it with coaching at Ohio State? Obviously OSU can recruit anybody from anywhere, but there were a good amount of offensive recruits from Cincinnati, Columbus and quite a few of recruits from Virginia and Florida too. I think that would bode well for recruiting at Virginia Tech.

I agree that Franklin isn't deserving, but it was just another thought that crossed my mind. I don't even know if he'd be interested. I personally don't want him.

Apart from saying UT is on the rise, I love it. A million times yes. I'd say that Gameday will be at that game anyway, it being the largest college football game in history. Bruton Smith and Jerry Caldwell will make sure there will be tons of events, concerts, parades, and everything for this. It's going to be a weekend long party here and Gameday would be crazy not to come join it and I have no doubt in my mind that Beamer wouldn't be there...
I can neither confirm nor deny....
Actually, I really can't, I've just been wanting to say that for a while. Who knows? Maybe I'll be right.

In the quick turnaround world of college football, you don't need 3 or 4 years anymore to win. You are either a good OC (Herman) or a bad one (Loeffler).
But winning with other peoples guys highlights Herman's biggest weakness: he doesn't have enough experience yet to show he can recruit to his philosophy and build a program (like, say, Richt has....or to a lesser extent, Fuente). Certainly there are projections that demonstrate he can, but it's projections at this point.
If Gameday went to Bristol and didnt have Frank as guest picker, I'd be surprised.

As a pure hypothetical, what parts of campus/town would be good to showcase if ESPN ever did come by? Does anybody have any go to spots they bring people to impress them with VT?
I actually would prefer painting the 25 yard line itself.... Maroon/orange. (For future years, if we wanted something more subtle)
The thing with white offset yard markers is they would only fit on one 25 yard line per sideline. (The ACC logo is on the other two 25 yard lines) So if anything is there it needs to have color like the current tribute, imo, because the ACC logo is in maroon & orange also.

Franklin is a terrific recruiter and a horrible in-game coach. His offensive coaching staff is not very good at all.
