You do realize that while you think this proves that a team must be in the top ten to win it, it proves the opposite. Every year but 2009 has at least a "just missed" team outside the top ten the previous year and beyond. Recruiting is important, yes, but not the only thing.
I'm sorry, I don't understand where you are getting "a good chance that he stays" from in that scenario. He just put decades of his coaching career into being the right hand man of a legend. He perennially produces a top tier defense with a variety of talent levels year after year, not to mention the intangibles (being an exemplary ambassador to the school, upholding VT values, etc). Then, the new AD hires some guy who's never been a head coach at a P5 level, but did really well as an coordinator at a P5 school (I think Bud did this too). Oh, and he's going to make about 2x-4x his salary most likely.
I'm not saying there's NO way he stays, I just don't see how Morris, Herman, or Fuente is a slam dunk to keep him

I just gotta say, the "we don't need to worry about recruiting" sentiment some people have is almost as bad as the "Frank needs to still be the coach in 2016 because Bristol" one.

I have never understood the free throw problems VT seems to have had for years. It could be just selective memory, but I don't remember us being a decent free throw making team in many moons. I know, we aren't the only team with this problem, but when you leave so many points at the stripe, it seems like serious work is needed to correct it. I didn't play basketball as a youth, so my perspective is totally fan-based, but what is the problem? Seems like it should be the easiest shot a player gets all night, notwithstanding the pressure of a tying or winning shot from the line. So, those of you who've played, elucidate me, would you?
Yeah that one view as the camera panned around the stadium was just sad. I wonder what kind of attendance dropoff there was after the first loss at home.

I have my own connections within the MI high school realm, since I live up here. That article was written before Frank announced his retirement, by the way. While SL is the main connection for Jackson at VT, I still think with the right coach Jackson would consider staying. He seems to be very high on everything Virginia Tech, It's unusual compared to a lot of top commits here in MI how into the Hokies he is. A lot of the top recruits around the state aren't as voiced as Jackson.

#Sources have confirmed that Andrew Jackson is out of the running on account of being long past dead. Shame too, given his mind on both sides of the ball. Ask a lot of people about Old Hickory, and you probably can't avoid the word offensive. And hell, any guy who can make defense work in New Orleans has to be a genius.
For those who went, did the place "feel" empty? It looked, and for the most part sounded, that way on the ESPN3 feed.
I think Reavis would have helped mediate those losses. But he's gone too so...
