So the non sensitive version of gang and crime reports are saying while total crime is down and some cities like NYC are seeing the continuation of record low crimes the trend for many areas in that rural/urban mix and cities often considered small or backwater will see increased Crime, especially gang or organized. Meth and heroin along with some other "regional" drug use is going up fast. Places readers of TKP might be familiar with that will see some kind of increase in crimes include Roanoke, Petersburg, South Boston, Portsmouth, Norfolk, wise county.

What about average yards to gain on 3rd down? I feel like last year every 3rd down was long, and this year our 3rd downs are much more manageable.
Alternatively, or in addition, you could track average yards gained on 1st and 2nd downs, which would include downs where we moved the chains or scored without making it to 3rd down.
Oh man. That's a really good idea, but would take a buttload of research and I'm lazy.
How much film do we have of TM running up the gut? Blocking for a pass? Calling him the best back we have right now, I'm still not sure about that.
Agreed. I think he is the best option right now. Loeffler certainly talked him up after the game.
McMillan hasn't run between the tackles. He's great with sweeps and getting to the edge, but a 1 back has to be able hit the guards

Not only did we play an FCS, but our first two games were also an FCS and OSU, making this a particularly valid point in the season for comparison.
Another good benchmark will be after week 5. Our other three opponents in 2014 were ECU, WMU and GT. This year will be ECU, Purdue and Pitt. With the season almost half gone by that point, I think that will be the first time we'll be able to draw some strong conclusions about how we're shaping up this year vs last year.
I think TM should be our starter, and I think Shai is our second best back.
Maybe I missed it, but is being better than last year our baseline? It might be useful to track against some aspirational offenses. For instance, we were FEI 93rd last year.....half that was Ole Miss at 46. Or Duke at 37th. Or Clemson last year, had QB issues and played comparable opponents: 61st.
A helliva lot better than jc and trey at this point IMO

My least concern is Slye kicking off. That guy has a boot on him. Unless he slips I don't see a team returning a kick this year.

Completely and whole heartedly agree! However, not sure Purdue will give us much either. ECU is the first real threat that I think we'll face since OSU. That may be the best barometer for Motley that we'll get before ACC play.
I dropped Matt Stafford and picked up Tyrod at about 11.30 today. Felt like a genius.

In all seriousness, though, I would be fine with him making a position switch. He's too athletic to not be on the field and with Lawson apparently ahead of him already he's not likely to get on the field at QB.
Tyrod, you've had my full support from the day you set foot on campus, but brah, that shirt. You gotta at least throw for 4 TDs if you're gonna try to pull that off.
Only if Young was a little slower and less elusive with a totally different throwing motion.
Lawson looked a lot more like Logan Thomas to me than Vince Young - especially the way he moved the pile.
None of them have singled themselves out in games so far as complete backs but you have to like our options!
