FCS opponent, we beat them by over 35+ points, the offense (with a new QB) working the kinks in the first half and Loeffler got to see what works best for Motley. I am feeling something big coming! LB still worries me...

It was the 1st quarter, less than 10 minutes in, and we had just gone three and out again-- the guy sitting in front of me whips out his phone, and proceeds to text his Hokie group chat that "we're done for the year, our offense and defense sucks" and then proceeds to leave the game.
I know there were some doubters about Motley, and there will continue to be. Give the kid a chance. He won a state championship at Christiansburg, he knows how to run an offense.
OK. Rant over. It was a great team win yesterday, and I'm excited to see what Loeffler can come up with that will compliment both Motley and Lawson going forward

That is exactly what it is. It was Conte's idea for a way to recognize the OL players who were excelling.
There are several things I think would be nice to track.
- Time of possession. Many people think the trick to a good defense is having a good offense and keeping the other's side O off of the field.
- Yards and plays per drive. I felt like last year we would go through several 3 and outs before we could get the ball moving. I don't think that's been the case this year. Yeah, we always look a little rough in the beginning - but I think the O is figuring it out faster this year. This could also explain the discrepancy between third down conversions and yards / game.
I'm a "wait and see" guy when it comes to Lefty. He's getting his pieces in place, and the line is finally gelling. It will be nice to see these statistics throughout the season - hopefully they'll start looking very different from last season in a couple of weeks.
