I've always said that UVA plays two games a year: the first and the last. Only this year I think they forgot they played UCLA.

I don't know what to do. I have to choose to watch Tyrod play or the Dolphins (My team). Because I watch games on the internet, it is too much of a pain in the ass to flip back and forth. I am leaning towards Tyrod but I think it will be a game time decision.
If uva wins that, then the smurf turfers really are a bad team. I wouldn't mind if both lost, but go noise boise this time.

Thats it exactly. Motley has been here long enough to give everyone a chance to have him and game plan back up ready. Motley and JC coleman have been on campus the same amount of time. Beamer saying that one week will make all the difference after being on campus 4 years is where i really lose it
Motley spent a while dealing with a back injury a year or two ago, and missed significant practice time last year due to a class conflict. That factors in big-time.
Maybe the skill set just is not that great? Why is this have to be something wrong with the coaches?
johns is quick in the pocket but man those throws were lofted really really bad. Watched the whole game and it was like watching backyard football. notre dame got pressure every play but johns squeaked out and would just throw a lame duck pass that this massive WR would come down with. Has absolutely nothing to do with coaching but everything to do with great chemistry between those two
Well having a plan for what to do when the glass you are drinking from shatters, did you buy a 2nd glass, or paper cup.
It's crazy that the coaching of a 4 year player hasnt made him or the coaches ready for when QB1 goes down
It won't make my film review because there is so much else to cover, however I really would have liked to have seen Chris Durkin run the football off play action. As much as people are splooging over Lawson, he was incredibly tentative running the ball. To his credit, he made the correct reads in the drop back passing game, but was woefully inaccurate (3 low passes in a row on the triangle concept pass pro's in the 4th Q that killed a drive.)
Meanwhile, Durkin was assertive with his fakes. Someone on twitter posted that Durkin was going to keep every play. I don't know that for sure, because on the read plays, every time he kept the keeper was the correct read. He was assertive and got up field quickly, used his blocking effectively, and finished his runs. If Loeffler truly believes in competition, he should have let Durkin have some pass plays mixed in. Given how shaky Lawson was (and sorry folks, but he looked very freshman to me), having a viable option in Durkin is important. Especially given Motley's injury history.
If you want to tell me that you're dissatisfied with the plan or its outcome, I'll agree with you. It wasn't that good. But to declare that "there was no plan" implies that you know with certainty that the coaches said, "it'll be fine, Brewer will never go down." Given the shots he took last year and how close we were to throwing Andrew Ford into the fire against UVA, you bet I don't believe that for a second and I doubt most people would. I think the plan was "Brewer is QB1 because he's clearly head-and-shoulders above Motley, who gets a limited package while he progressively learns more about the offense especially on the mental side," and unfortunately going against the national champs that just ended up looking bad. It was clear to me that Motley had a case of nerves and the close game quickly became...shall we say, not close. At that point, the plan changed into "get the hell out of here alive." Because in the grand scheme of the season, that game isn't terribly important and our odds of winning it were low purely from a talent standpoint. Beamer wasn't going to go all-in to risk an even worse season to make one game matter and then have to throw a true Freshman in as QB1 for the rest of the year if Motley goes down. It doesn't make any sense.
Just because something didn't work doesn't mean there was absolutely no plan. As the saying goes, the best laid plans of mice and men...
