I agree that they didn't win a national championship, naturally. But I wouldn't go as far as to say that a year or two in there, had they been put in the MNC, they absolutely could have won a national championship because they had the coaching and enough talent. Hence the question.
Big difference between wanting an offer from Virginia Tech and wanting to go to Virginia Tech...seems like the type of kid who's trying to show off and get as many offers as possible.

Yup. If our game against Furman goes how a game against an FCS team should go (please dear god let this game go how a game against an FCS team should go), then we will probably see a second quarterback play in the game coming up this weekend. The only question left is which one will it be.
If it's a close game, then, naturally, you stick with the guy that gives you the best chance to win. But if it gets a little lopsided, then it's only sporting to pull your starter.

I think this is a brilliant idea.
If...
- he has done his due diligence first (sending tape, a cover letter, and a cv to those schools)
- he hasn't received any contact back from them, or some contact that didn't result in an offer
- he has the skills
...then why not! I even think he phrased this well, indicating that there are schools out there he is interested in without saying anything remotely negative about any of the schools that have offered him. I think this is a smart use of social media, and done pretty well.
But the cynic in me thinks he could be just looking to pad his offer list.
Not knowing anything about the kid, it's hard to speculate.
If they can build on this performance and do as well against the rest of our schedule, I will say Coach Searels has passed the test and deserves a new contract.

Done well, it's more a matter of standing in the way, slowing the defender down by a half-step. But I guess following the play downfield can have other advantages, like being in the right place when a fumble occurs, or being ready for a hurry-up on the next play.

I really don't like the "motley was #2 because Lawson couldn't beat Brewer," argument...It assumes that CFB is flat-out lying when he says, "we were never going to redshirt him," which I guess is possible, but if it's true, this truly ought to be Beamer's last week. His rep as a coach is built on his trustworthiness, without that...I choose to believe it is the case that Lawson was never going to redshirt, in which case, we know he isn't ready, but the coaches expected him to keep getting better. I expected he would get garbage time, and I don't doubt he will. Lots of garbage time for Lawson the next 2 weeks, lots of practice reps. If he improves and takes the reigns and responsibilty, he's the guy, if not, Motley.
Doesn't change the fact that Boise State actually wins those big games.
I'm a future kind of guy. Play the QB that gives you the best chance of being good for years. Like when the Packers went with Rodgers even though Favre wanted to come back. Is it a gamble? Yes. But it does make more sense to me to develop the QB of the future instead of starting the guy that might win one or two more game for us this year
Idk, I'm really not too into the idea of Rich Rod. What if WVU does poorly to the point that Holgorsen gets fired? Or WVU does so well that Holgorsen gets pried? I don't like the fact that there is a "what if" scenario that could pry Rich Rod away.
Secondly, why did Rich Rod fail at Michigan? I don't know too much about UM football, but under Carr, was their offense so different that they didn't have the personnel for Rich Rod's O? I kind of feel that it wouldn't be a smooth transition.
Disagree a little. Jcc is our weakest pass blocker almost due to sheer size. He shouldn't have been in to pass protect when brewer for injured. He also missed a HUGE hole that he could've taken as far as he could till he either scored or got caught. Trey missed a huge hole in the goal-line.
Anyone know what's up with Marshawn Williams? Did he redshirt / still recovering from injury?
