I would have preferred he throw it to Phillips. Once Mot looked at Ford, the corner came crashing that way and left Phillips even more open than Ford was. The best thing to have done would be look at Ford to look the corner off, then come back to Phillips on the edge where it is a much safer throw than lobbing one late over the middle. I think he got lucky as hell.

If Teller gets hurt, it won't be a terrible thing. Hansen's injury, while admittedly not great for him, turned out to be pretty darn good for the team. Wouldn't shock me to see Nijman start from here on out. Shoot, if the coaches trust him to protect Brewer's blind side against OSU, why not?

Fullback wheel route with a 40 yd run after catch for a TD while leaving opponents socks littered through the backfield. What fullback does that stuff?
You know, ESPN doesn't even have a stat for fullback receiving up top with the rushing stat.
After a redshirt sophomore year, I highly doubt it. Besides the development aspect, he leaves quite a tidy sum on the table by declaring that early.

But let me ask this...is it possible that having some guys other than Teller running with the 1st team for week or so in August wasn't such a terrible idea?
Really, we're more likely to keep things about the same, just expanding the package that Motley was already going to run. He'll be asked to do a lot more than he did against OSU, but I don't think he'll be asked to do as much as Brewer can.
He could probably take a couple lessons from Malleck there.
Lawson will play early. Redshirt is pretty much out the window right now.
if 1 of those two can accurately throw the ball we will be just fine.. IMO we could see an uptick with the wildcat due to durkin being a completely different runner than motley is.

The biggest positive is the same as it was Sunday morning: win or lose, we play football again in 4 (now 3) days against a team that shouldn't be too tricky (and yes, ECU was a tricky opponent last year, Furman.... not so much). No matter what, we're moving on quickly and putting that OSU game behind us.
If Mot & Durk can play their roles within Lefty's offense, and ESPECIALLY if they light it up against competition they should light it up against, no way I'd burn Lawson's shirt.
Let's face it -- a VT QB lighting it up against any competition comes few and far between. Blame it on personnel, on coaching, on whatever. Far too often we've watched our QB's, first string included, stink it up against a sub-par defense.
If Mot or Durk stink it up this weekend, then I'd be open to seeing Lawson. At that point I'd be on the nothing to really lose bandwagon.
