We scored more points than UVA.
After Motley's 3rd drive with no points, I was calling for Lawson. Maybe it was smart not playing him vs OSU. I would hate for him to go into that game as his first game, head spinning, and end up getting hurt. That's what we really don't need. As someone else mentioned in another article, the schedule is set up perfect for Lawson right now. Start him saturday. First game is Furman, second being a step up to Purdue and a away game. Third being another step up to ECU and it's also a away game. Bring him back home to start ACC play. The schedule could not be any more perfect for him to start now.
When will you be signing the check to do that?
Jaquan Yulee loved the visit and chances are high he flips. Now the chances Devon hunter comes with him....that's unknown

For two quarters, I saw the offense I've been waiting to see. Not so much the early stalls in first quarter, but the fact that we witnessed on the fly adjustments that led to us climbing out of a 14 point hole to claim a halftime lead. All without any of the wing and a prayer gambles it took to win last year in the Shoe. The offense looked sharp and confident with Brewer. Now I need to see if it can look that way with anyone else under center.
Everything I've heard about Lawson, it seems like he's level-headed and mature. I don't think he expects to come into this level and set the world on fire. If he takes some knocks as a true frosh, I don't think it will discourage him.
Let me preface this by saying Lawson is the QB of the future. I really think he has the skills to be excellent at VT.
However, by watching the fall scrimmages, this is exactly what I did NOT see. To give you one example, Lawson was in the shotgun and a bad snap flew past him on the ground. Lawson raised his hands and just let the football lay instead of going after it. Searels lit him up for it - you could not hear what he said, but you just knew. 1-2 plays later, the same scenario occurred again. Lawson didn't make the smallest effort to go after it. Searels was hotter this time and Lawson just shrugged it off.
Because of this, I don't think that he is ready even though I really want him to be. After his first series this fall, I wanted to start him against anOSU. But his head and inexperience worries me.
The more I look at it, I honestly believe the total objective became getting out of the game injury-free, and play calling and substitutions on both sides support that. Also explains the loss of all morale on the team if they were picking up on the coaches essentially mailing it in.
Eager to see the reviews on this one.
I still think Loeffler can be a good offensive coordinator I just hope he doesnt try to get to cute this season and get himself fired
It appears that Durkin and Motley are similar QB's while Lawson provides the most upside for the passing game. I think we need to just throw Lawson in that game and hope he does a backflip into the end zone on a qb sneak.
Yeah, hyperbarics can really speed the process. I'm going to assume that is the plan already because I think in all but the absolute best situations, collarbone injuries are usually 6-10 weeks not 4-8. I could be wrong on that but one of my hs teammates broke his and was out ~10 weeks
I tried my best in the east to be as loud as possible. Lost my voice at the end of the 1st!

# | Bitter blog - Five thoughts after the Hokies' loss to No. 1 Ohio State I thought I was seeing things wrong.
I thought I saw that but there was a lot of shifting going,on too so, I'm nit really sure.
Positives:
- OL was opening holes in run blocking.
- OL was also holding a pocket in pass pro.
- Running backs were getting YAC.
- DL was getting steady penetration, just couldn't corral Cardale.
- Despite some incomprehensible grumbles I've heard, I thought play calling was excellent all night long.
- Pass play design is brilliant. Designed to get one receiver open and only make QB need one read.
- ZERO false starts. ONE holding penalty. Searels is doing the Lord's work.
- Ryan Motherfucking Malleck.
The Terrordome is just a myth right now.
I would have liked to see Rogers get more 2nd half snaps, he was a spark plug for the offense the 2nd quarter, then really never got the ball in the 2nd half at all
Agree on the upside.
But he is not "mature and level headed" and it is important to understand that as well when determining a qb. Just trying to shed light on the situation/discussion that might be going on behind the scenes.
If they go with Motley, it will be because they don't trust Lawson with the reigns of not only being QB1, but also being a team leader. Not playing hard and not listening to coaches is setting a really bad example for the team. I hope it was an isolated incident.
I'll be behind any QB that trots out there, but I think we need to be careful of our expectations of the "unknown." A lot of fodder out there on how great Lawson is, but the scrimmages showed he has a lot to learn in a few areas.
Yeah. The Ohio fans in front of asked who the beast was that scored that TD.

I agree with improvement on the offensive line. I read an article that claimed anOSU had its way with our OL, but to this layman, those guys looked vastly improved over last year.
I also want to see French's analysis, but it seems like we abandoned the bear front almost immediately after Brewer went down. I don't know what it was, but I swear it looked like we had six down linemen at some points.
The sky cam is amazing! Not sure why most people don't know about it.

I disagree with 1 point. The #1 D was on the sidelines when our offense was on the field.
