Pathetic. Honestly, the people laughing just don't understand that when Brewer said that he was trying to be a leader to his teammates. He wasn't trying to be a smartass to anOSU or anything. He's a tough kid and that's the way he approaches the game.
I should probably go back and watch it again, but in real time I was pissed that he wasn't ruled down by contact. When the runner is lying on top of a defender and can't touch the ground but is no longer moving forward, the play should be over.
Three separate times
Just beautiful.
Valid. I recall Hansen's run-blocking coming along pretty well by the end of the year, so with Motley in there, I could see Hansen doing well. Still very encouraging to see Nijman jump in and perform at that level, against outstanding competition.
We also measured on the Richter scale
Andrew Ford would have a been a nice fit here.
You know, I really hate seeing the ball stripped away.....it's football, not rugby dang it! Getting knocked loose is part of the game, but I wish they would outlaw stripping.

# | Bitter blog - Motley the new QB1, but Durkin, Lawson will get a look this week I would think that the type of game plan they'll be putting together for Motley will be better suited to Hansen. Plus VT isn't going to see anything close to the level of athleticism of OSU on the outside for a number of weeks.
That comment was so stupid & spiteful that he's getting down votes from Buckeyes on here.
OT but this is the second video I have seen of making fun of Brewer's injury (I'm sure many of you have the first.) Was hesitant to post it, but it pissing me off almost as much as the first one. I can stand the Braxton juke move going viral as it should, but I can't stand a player getting injured and then getting seemingly laughed at by all of social media.
I'm sorry to hear that. Sounds like a few OSU fans were acting like PSU fans.
I agree. Case in point was the spring game - identical routes by Ford on a fade to the endzone. Motley overthrew him by 5 yards, Brewer hit him in stride. That's just one example, but Motley definitely needs to get a hold of his cannon. Great strength. Needs accuracy.
Yeah I thought he played well also. I just assumed if they trusted Nijman on a stage that big that they would go ahead and slate him in on the depth chart as the #1 guy this week, especially if he outplayed Hansen.
My steel professor when I was there actually went out to take at the NEZ in the early 2000's due to concerns about vibration during sandman. They did add additional bracing to fix a flaw in the bleacher kit. I don't know if they ever set up vibration monitoring but it was his opinion that you would never get all those students jumping in unison completely so it wouldn't match the fundamental frequency and really cause a problem. I do think there are way too many kids shoehorning themselves in there though and that probably is putting unnecessary strain on the structure.
Hansen was struggling, especially in pass pro. He tried to block low on a DE and wound up eating grass while the DE stepped over him and went after Brewer. After that, we saw the adjustment. Looks like it paid off. Hansen did come in later and do a bit better, but the McGlock/Nijman shift really boosted the offense through the 2nd quarter, at least.
So hearing that Beamer and company never intended to redshirt Lawson is pretty exciting. I think Motely should start since he obviously was beating Lawson. However puttin in Lawson more and more in the upcoming games should do wonders for his confidence. I think Motely continues to start the rest of the season unless Lawson just makes leaps and bounds in his knowledge and execution. Next three games will be great to get him eased into the game and system. However even if we go up huge against furman I think motley needs a lot of quality reps.
Excited to see the team and game plan this weekend. Even more excited to see Lawson now knowing that he wasn't getting a redshirt anyways. Restart the hype train......
I wonder how Andrew Ford feels right now...Durkin looks like the second coming of Tebow.
Play Lawson!

# | Bitter blog - Motley the new QB1, but Durkin, Lawson will get a look this week Nijman has to keep getting the reps. I'm not even sure why Hansen was benched, did he get hurt or just not produce? Nijman looked solid for his first real action (amazing that he's just getting started). He should only continue to improve. Really impressed with him last night, though I'm a novice from a technique standpoint. He certainly wasn't a revolving door...
One thing I haven't seen mentioned; we played a pretty clean game. There weren't a lot of stupid penalties (offsides. Illegal procedure anyone?) That's a nice change, especially for such a huge game.
That said, I'm having a hard time getting excited for this season. The offense took a hit w/ Brewer out. I'm tired of watching terrible offense.
From what I've seen I'd have to disagree. Motley might be able to throw the ball further but Brewer was the only one that seemed able to actually hit his receivers on the deep routes.
Aside from the QB situation, what do you guys think about Nijman at that tackle spot? I know the article said Wade was listed at the 1 on the depth chart this week but the way Beamer was talking, it sounded like Nijman was going to continue to get some serious reps there.
@ Illinois Hokie -
What UM has done with your 3-deep at QB is something you have to wait at the crossroads at midnight to accomplish.
We're actually like 6 or 7 deep with 4 & 5* at QB. Seriously. An embarrassment of riches.

IDK, we're only one game into this year, have 3 games to get ready for ACC play, to have the 'end goal for this season is to have Lawson ready' would seem to be tossing this season away prematurely.. it appears we have an improved OL, a monster DL, and Shai coming back from suspension this week.. it's also possible Brewer could be back for the 2nd half of ACC play, There is NO REASON to give up on this season yet
