Ladies and gentlemen, we have a new winner for

And I didn't even hit this clown with a -10. Job was already done. And done and done and done...
Then the end goal for this season is to have Lawson ready to start by the end of the season. Give him a healthy share of first team reps, and series in every game. Build him up, bring him along in live situations, and get him ready to be the man against the Vols in Bristol.
No, not being prepared for Vick leaving early and having no other options at QB (Randall was a freshman and VERY raw) was what got us Grant Noel.
A lot of what Lefty was saying sounded to me like he was trying to talk himself into believing it. This obviously crushed Lefty, and understandably so. He had a returning QB for the first time in his career as an OC, and by all appearances, Brewer had made mad strides. Lefty thought he was going to get to run his offense with a QB who knew it and could make the throws. To have that taken away with the career Lefty's had, that's gotta be a punch to the stones.
Today's a new day. Sober reality has replaced the shock of last night. Lefty's got another season ahead of him of trying to bring along a QB on the fly. My guess is he will look at all his options, pick the one he feels gives him the best chance to field a competitive offense, and roll with it.
Let's hope it turns out like Dick Vermeil circa 2000.
At least it was the non-throwing shoulder. Less chance of screwing up his throwing mechanics (I know, I know.....small blessings).
Don't forget, this decision for the coaches does not involve whether or not Lawson redshirts this year. They've stated multiple times, and again today, they never had any intention of redshirting him. So that should not factor in to whether they start him or not.
I almost broke my collar bone from just watching the Braxton Miller spin move.
Make sure your peers keep showing up in strength for every home game. That was one of the reasons we enjoyed success when I was an undergrad.
Let's be honest with ourselves, Motley will start, and continue to start until he loses games (plural) for us. SL made that adamant last night, how many times did he say "we will rally around Motley"? A'la Dick Vermeil circa 2000 in regards to Kurt Warner.
That is both sad and awesome.
Same.
I had no problems with OSU fans yesterday. Glad everyone had a good time. I know the norm is supposed to be me saying "ill be cheering for you guys the rest of the season" but as far as OSU's actual team I won't be cheering for them at all the rest of the season. Arrogant players and over the top with the social media
That piece of sh*t is continusly posting it like every 20 minutes because it went viral. It's okay though I doubt Brewer cares because he probably realizes that he is just more successful at life then the losers who laughed at him for getting injured.
@ HokieJeep - Fear. That you guys were coming back. So Meyer would have kept his foot on the pedal full speed. Just a hunch. My pre-game prediction was 27 - 21, Buckeyes.
Honestly I want a good year this year. My last year of under grad, I deserve a good season after what I missed out on.
Play Leal!
Id rather just have Lawson go. But if Motley plays hes going to need to go down alot more when he runs or scrambles. He took some shots last night while running and also last year
Didn't care much for those tweets, either. Have more class than that. I'm hoping the coaches come down on them HARD. Although I'm afraid that I may be a dinosaur in regards to today's media manners.
I know the guy, OSU fan, but West Virginian by birth.
We won 6 last year and Motley moved the ball well when he came in. I think with this defense and improvements among the o-line and skill spots. 8 is the baseline.
Motley may be a little better "right now," but if Lawson is indeed the future, I refuse to believe Motley is better enough to justify being played when Lawson has a good opportunity to gain experience, get rookie mistakes out of the way, and perhaps even excel. They're pretty close, or else Beamer wouldn't have even considered burning Lawson's redshirt.
The focus being on this season and this season alone was thrown out the window the second Brewer's collarbone snapped. When you have a guy like Lawson, this is the situation where you see what he has.
Perfect.
And make all student tickets General Admission. Encourages the students to pack it in early and the most dedicated fans get the better seats. And do the same for basketball.
Really good post, gave you a leg to get you started.
I think there is a great article out there to be written about the transition of Virginia Tech football from the Beamer to the post-Beamer era. That is strictly a comment on the inexorable fact that Frank won't be here forever, and in fact won't be here for much longer (relatively speaking) no matter what the results on the field are. And its also can't be a "one year he is here, one year he is not" sort of change because I don't see that working out well.
I do agree that with Brewer and all of the work he put in, this was going to be a really good season regardless of the W/L result last night. And unfortunately with one play both of those possibilities were dealt a blow.
I'm not saying Lawson is better than those other guys. I really have no idea what they are doing in practice. But it feels like right now this program is at a major transitional moment. Do we let the OC and the kid he hand picked (Lawson) start showing us what they can do? Even if it means some rough going early on, because i think VT has the horses to beat the next 3 squads even with "just learning" QB play.
yea it crowd surfed its way to the top. i was scared it was gonna be tossed over the top but the last row was smart enough to just set it down

Some sober thoughts.
McMillan looked good. Wish he would have gotten a few more touches. Excited to see him and shai against furman.
Motley is our qb now. The team is going to rally around and we should to as a fan base. If Lawson is not ready to run the offense yet them you don't waste his redshirt year with him losing games for us due to his inability to execute the playbook. If he's just as competent in the playbook as Motely then it's another question.
Moto worries me especially thinking about GT. don't know what our deal is with not getting great LB's lately but that department needs to be fixed now. I'm sure Bud will. I just don't know if moto does one thing in practice but then thinks too much into it during the game or what.
OL was a lot better. DBU looked to get burned a lot or at least allowed a lot of seperation. Sure it will be fixed as well.
On to the next game. Can't wait for the furman preview and for-rensics. Can't wait to hear about practice this week. Can't wait to see the boys in action on Saturday. And best of all....ITS NOT A NOON GAME!!!!
