The entire structure would have a much greater factor of safety than individual rows I would think. It was probably way over its limit by all of the people sneaking in from SEZ and standing on the bench, needs to be addressed for sure, but not a huge deal for the bigger structure.
Have you told anybody in the athletic dept?!
I don't think Lawson was remotely ready to play last night. They didn't get him ready to play, probably barely got Durkin ready to play.
But for this week, they could get Lawson ready enough to play. It would be a limited package, but Motley is going to have a limited package as well.
Damn, I can't believe we are at this point...One of those options has to work.

Brewer was no/ little threat at all in the read option game so at this point I'd say we go heavy read option/ speed option- hell with Sam Rogers go triple option from the I. Whatever it takes to move the football. Motley, Durkin then... Travon McMillan. Dude was a really good qb- throws a pretty ball and would work in a pinch or as a wildcat change-up. If Lawson is not ready that's just where we are.
Given the situation, I think the best option is to give 1st team reps to Durkin or Lawson all week and whoever can throw it best gets the job. Like others have said, I don't think Motley is Power 5 conference QB with what I've seen of him in practices and limited games. He's as good as he's going to get imo which isn't good enough. Maybe Motley is a capable passer but I just find it odd that the coaches would be holding him back on purpose the last couple of years with the play calls they've used him with. That tells me he doesn't really have it, they were just using his specific skillset (his feet) to shake things up. Basically, we're just going to have to toss a young kid out there (Durkin/ Lawson) and hope the talent around him can bolster things similar to how Boykin and Coale helped out Logan Thomas a ton his first year. It's a really tough situation with no real answer. We're just going to have to pick one of three mystery options and hope it hits.
I felt really bad for the folks who bought $200 tickets last night only to realize they were for Furman.

Weren't we up 17-14? Game was hardly out of hand. If the coaches think Lawson is the difference between a win and a loss, then you play him. It's pretty straight forward IMO (obviously, if he's not ready, you don't play him).
@ Knawaz03 - If Brewer had been in the 2nd half, I think the final score might have been 49 - 38 for my Buckeyes. A tough, sad thing to lose Brewer. Hope you guys bounce back & make the playoffs!

Deon and the DL were schemed intoplaying a less aggressive option-stopping like style...Bud has done this in the past against GT...only 3DL on the field, just not enough explosive beef to punch through that much-improved front....Motu...I don't know if he read his keys correctly or not, but it sure didn't look it. Ford and phillips were well-covered the whole game, which is why, with the nickel covering Hodges, Malleck and Rodgers were able to get open so much..

Skill-set wise, not quite. If I were an opposing defender, Leal wouldn't have scared me at all as a runner.
I'm guilty of this as well. I was referencing Leal when I saw Motley head in and immediately said, "he's going to throw an INT, just watch, it always happens." The fact that he then threw an INT... coincidence or no?
I hope Motley gets his chance to get out of Leal's shadow.
I know Sam Rogers reached stratospheric levels of TKP fame before he even played a down & we got to know him, but damned if he hasn't blown away my wildest expectations. Humble, blue collared, killer work ethic, that man is cut from Hokie stone. If we could field a team of Rogerses...
a teams offenses and defenses are more emotionally tied than most appreciate. the momentum shifted with the Brewer injury, on both sides of the ball.

OSU's speed was too much for us on both sides of the ball. Running sideways worked well for them, and not us.
Special teams was the only part of the game we won. Kicking was solid.
We've got an offense this year with big-play ability; some of those runs were picking up 8+ yards on first down against a VERY good defense. I was surprised someone didn't break one for 20+ yards. The question was how much of a drop-off will there be without Brewer.
Lefty had a good gameplan, perhaps better than Foster (although you could argue OSU's offense was better than the defense.) This game was done after Brewer got hurt, but would have been a lot closer with him.
Lefty now has to re-vamp the offense and get the QBs up to speed. Figure out what gives them the best chance to win. Motley did have some decent throws, but looked to have happy feet in the pocket. A read-option game is likely to be the plan from here out.
