I would still drink profusely in the parking lot prior to going into the game...its cheaper that way...and I'll still sneak in airplane bottles of bourbon and mix w/ coke...I don't think I would benefit from the availability of alcohol inside the stadium. All it does is give fans around me an alcoholic beverage which could potentially be spilled on me/my belongings/my family. That happens enough as it is with cokes, lemonades, and iced teas. I don't want to ride home stinking of cheap, stale beer. I, for one, don't want VT to serve alcohol at games.

And yet another season like 2004...and 2007...and 2010...where we're left wondering "what if..." and "if only...".

Minors don't have the legal right to consent.

So would it be breaking the law for a minor if she did consent per this case? Or are kids just exempt from all laws until they are 18? Damn I missed out on so much in my childhood then. Mostly joking aside, shouldn't there be some kind of juvenile case Shai could file?

While I don't disagree with the law, I was merely suggesting that there was some moral wrong-doing on the part of the girl from my perspective. Yes we know Shai broke the law, he's being punished. Hopefully the girl will have learned her lesson if from nothing else than the legal process.

But if as a minor, the girl can not legally consent to sexual acts, wouldn't her consenting in this case be considered breaking the law? Or does the law not consider her a person until she's 18? Not being in the law industry, this part is fuzzy to me.

In the fight for social justice and gender equity, it is important that we understand that respect among both genders is important to the functionality of American society. It is unfair for a man's life and dreams to be taken away from him because of a mutual assault. DeAndre was the only party punished in this incident, simply because he is a male, and that is unfair and sexist. He should be given another chance at fulfilling his dream and showing the world that he is an outstanding young man, who made a great mistake. The thing I find truly ironic is that the petition was created by a female. Makes me wonder how she would feel if she was the one who got laid out.

Only acceptable situation is if you are also a consenting minor imho...

This. People are surprisingly quick to be willing to throw away a kid's future based on very little information.

It was a typical big game for us. We outgained them and had the advantage in TOP. Dropped an open TD pass on 4th down, missed a 23 yd field goal in the 4th quarter. Its hard to beat a 12-0 team doing that. Even after all that the defense got the ball enough, even being down 16 in the 4th, to win the game. Our defense got some turnovers and made some plays against a very talented Auburn O.

We just couldnt run the ball, our RB talent wasnt the best that year and it showed against the best defense we played. The line could get some blame as well. It was a valiant effort by the team and I think everyone was proud of how we played but just once again so close.
