Also, it is harder for people to see the VFX discrepancies if it is really dark. Same with choreography.
This is why a lot of fight scenes (both traditional and VFX) take place in poorly lit areas or at night.
No different from other massively successful college coaches such as Saban, Dabo, Smart, etc.
They may "report" to an AD or GM, but they absolutely are the tip of the spear for all things football
If I recall, he was a personal coach/trainer to Antonio Cotman who was in one of Pry's first recruiting classes but ended up transferring out.
From one tweet I saw, it seemed like his beef was with Pry. So my uneducated guess is something happened with Cotman or maybe with another player Carmichael was training that VT was or wasn't recruiting
Better Off Dead has gotten more funny every time I've watched it since my dad told me to watch it in high school.
Well, to be clear, there is still a football GM that has oversight. But there is a unified vision to implement what Franklin wants to elevate our program. I'm not implying that Franklin is an autonomous entity. But he's driving the train.
I don't know about that. Young and Duffy asked that those dollars be redirected to NIL to remain competitive. Whit agreed because that was the more pressing need and both coaches were united in wanting NIL money.
Has he ever coached before?
I agree with this bringing him back. I do not know what was exchanged between DC and the Admins (great band name, BTW) to cause his ejection but I miss his diatribes.
Apparently somewhere in the coach hiring process we've pissed off Roc Carmichael and he's let it be known on the twitters.
Sounds like he was interested in a position and the two sides couldn't come to an agreement which apparently rubbed him the wrong way.
Franklin basically has full control of the football program
Kinda scary... I haven't heard of any other program where the coach reports to the board/prez.
Certainly an innovation.
largely why movies are darker and dont pop more is that the stage lighting was changed out for LEDs
I actually just read a piece about this - directors prefer less contrast/more monochromatic coloring these days because it makes it easier to edit/add vfx in post.
I have had those too. I had the debilitation (as if in extreme pain), but not the pain. Weirdest thing. The second one I had was so bad that the urgent care sent me to the stroke unit at the hospital. I didn't know what it was at the time but I remember the UC doctor trying to explain to me that they were sending me to the hospital. I was so out of it that merely opening my eyes or giving her any acknowledgement required as much effort as bench pressing a 350-lb load. The doctor gave up talking to me and then turned and told everything to my ex. I was fully aware but just could not respond. Hence the stroke unit. After about two hours into it, in between CT without contrast and CT with contrast, I could feel it resolve. I was "bak". Whew! They still made me stay in the hospital all weekend. Figured out what it was later. Since I was outside and moving around when it started I saw blurriness. Had I been sitting still would have recognized the shimmering. Haven't had it again in like 8 years. Thankfully.
Would they use the extra money they raised to pay for the "Assless" package? /s
Miami passed on Mendoza out of high school (despite Miami being Mendoza's first choice). However, Mendoza was Miami's #1 QB target out of the portal (source).
I also get ocular migraines from time to time, but just the visual part. Like a big multicolored C that grows from left to right (sometimes from right to left), ultimately filling most of my visual field. I don't know if it's blood sugar related because while I picked up T2D a couple years back, I've had them long before that, although not as frequently. No pain or any other effect, thankfully, just the visual part.
FWIW, the narrative I read multiple times during leadup to the Natty was that Miami turned down Mendoza, not the opposite.
Your point 2 was IMO the single biggest factor at play. I REALLY hope Franklin can keep our transfers in the bus. He was clearly loading up for the future. That was certainly the right play in the before times, however given the portal / NIL world we now live in I worry we won't be able to keep kids satisfied and staying through graduation.
They can't even do that. Until his retirement a few years ago, their chief horticulturist was a fellow named Jay Klingle, a VT grad. They even named a tree after him when he left.
Learning to grow Ivy on a building does not make one Ivy league
Too third world for them.
Blade Runner's imperfections are better than most movies' perfections.
Though it's 1993, how do you feel about Keanu Reeves as the Buddha?
I think the first one is how it's SUPPOSED to work and is OK. How do you think universities get buildings? Wealthy people establishing a legacy of good works greater than other wealthy people. Like Bill Gates working hard not to pay taxes, but being very generous with establishing (tax-free) philanthropy in his own name.
The second one, of course, is solid "hatin' on" material.
I know you were joking. Bourbon helps a lot of things, but not these things. I've never had one when drunk, that I can recall, but the next morning is when I'd have the event. I seldom have them later in the day, and have discovered that it may be blood sugar related in my case. Not been cross eyed, drunk or sober, but I've had them happen in one eye and then an hour later, the other eye. The aura is really spectacular in and of itself, jagged flashing multicolored and psychedelic in nature, but it's only scary for me now when I'm driving. I can't read until the vision clears out, but usually just sit quietly until it's gone. I personally think it's hypoglycemia in my case that causes it, and it can happen without the triggers Dave mentioned, but camera flashes or strobing lights can bring it on as well.

Been watching SEE on Apple+ and there are definitely alot of scenes that are hard to watch. Played with all my contrast settings but no help.
