If someone had told me the Beamer Barn wasn't heated, I'm not sure I would have believed them. Who made that decision to start? Does anyone here know any more about that?
He is taking a admin role
Never said the job was AD either
Definitely some positive points:
"Not in the business of hiring friends." Wonder what this stems from? /s
Three Deep at every position - Not sure if I completely buy it at this point, but it is definitely a good goal.
(Two Deep guys may need to update the name of their podcast.)
Franklin would have hired Pry where ever he ended up.
We had a 5 year break from attending games, and frankly I was disappointed when we returned (last year). Where lane used to rock, the fans seem now to be waiting for thevideotron to tell them what to do. It's like noise was piped in to give the fans the lane experience.
I have nothing against led lights and their added abilities, just hoping that we can get back to the fans forcing the atmosphere on lane, instead of the opposite.
And don't get me started on students leaving at halftime so they can go stand on my lawn.
No JC Price? I knew he was stepping back due to health or age or something, but is he just retiring?
You may be in the minority, but you're not alone.
...hopefully we're past the point of the on field product triggering those.
God, I can only hope so!
Wenzel was featured in a Top 5 in 5 on Basket Under Review. The shooting quote...woof
Carleigh Wenzel
Wenzel has seen an uptick in usage over the past few games, and it has been to the benefit of Virginia Tech. She just put up 23 points in a big rivalry win over Virginia, where she also added five assists and six rebounds. She hasn't scored under double digits since the Louisville game on January 4th and has seemingly turned a corner since then. She has extremely high usage at times and has been shown to rise to the occasion when she is counted on. Her assist rate has climbed this year while her turnover rate has dropped. She is also shooting the ball at a 33.9 percent rate, which is the highest of her career. Virginia Tech has a few very nice pieces, but if they want to reach the NCAA tournament in a good spot to make a run at the second weekend, then Wenzel needs to be a huge factor down the stretch.
Can I just say I love' CJF's attention to detail? Beginning of the presser, the mic is way too hot (especially for Franklin who speaks loudly) and causing some feedback issues. He says, "that buzzing is really annoying, can someone fix that?" And literally paused until someone did and thanked them. It's just the little things but man he holds your feet to the fire and commands excellence.
The ROI will be a major factor. Not even as much as what it costs to install, upkeep of system and potential power savings. The biggest factor was what the old system was costing to maintain. The bulbs and other parts, most manufacturers had stopped making them so the cost for those that still were had gone up significantly.
Is it about the show? Certainly
Is it also a way to get a better functioning system? Yes
Before NIL, I would have no problem agreeing with this. But now...
IMHO all of us others should just be happy they are welcoming us back.

Yes! I can't wait for when the crowd sings " Exit light..." and 3/4 of the lights go out! Hopefully they have some orange and maroon lighting in the stands so that the stadium sort of glows in O&M.
Appreciate the quick education which somehow made new lighting more interesting! TKP community delivers once again
I dont understand enough of the difference but largely why movies are darker and dont pop more is that the stage lighting was changed out for LEDs so why would the stadium lights be different? Why will they pop while movies lack decent lighting?
2/5 on PSU this must retain list (spoiler they only retained 1/5)
Also mentions they hope to keep Earls if Losey leaves....they both are on our staff now
They do make glasses specifically for light sensitivity, not sure if you've tried them but might help not trigger a migraine mid football game - since hopefully we're past the point of the on field product triggering those.
Some venues even give out "sensory" bags as requested which usually have a pair of those glasses in them...seeing some of the feedback in this thread I think there might be enough interest for VT to do that
must not have ever played video games, watched movies, or attended any concert in the past 20 years either.
raises hand
I do play in a couple of local rock bands and we have our own led stage lights that will flash, blink, react to sound, etc...and I pretty much hate them. The ones in my direct line of sight are set to one...reasonable...color.
I also get ocular migraines which bright flashes can trigger. When one is coming on, I can't read or speak for about 20 minutes, so I drink a lot fluids and eat a handful of ibuprofen, then the residual headache lasts about 3 days
if it is good for the program, this is all great, and it will no doubt look good on TV. but you'll never hear me talk about how great the LED lighting effects are
Bring back DCWilson!
Maybe I am in the minority, but I appreciated his hot/controversial takes.
Yes, presumably some money will be put towards improving row signage etc as well
If Whit made that same presentation 5-10 years earlier it absolutely would have fallen on deaf ears
I think it's worth mentioning that in a 2.5 year window, VT turned over it's head football coach of 29 years, it's AD of 17 years, and it's president of 14 years. That's not a good recipe for alignment.
This take definitely has old man yells at clouds vibes. I don't think the faded lettering and lack of row lighting has anything to do with installing LEDs.
1.2% of the US population has epilepsy....3% of those people are sensitive to light changes lets not pretend this is just gonna cause mass seizures in the stadium. Its also common practice in the hundreds of venues that have and strobing LED shows to display warning messages somewhere so I'm sure if VT plans to flash their lights they'll also have those warnings posted or displayed on the video board.
It's in response to this statement: "The on TV product will pop too and isn't that the most important thing at the moment?"
Have you ever been to a night game at NC State? They turn off all of the lights for a few seconds then turn the whole stadium blood red its pretty awesome, dangerous or not, its captivating.

They must be factoring in her horrible free throw shooting. It felt like she was better on the floor last Sunday.
