I hate to give credit to the hoos, but yes, they have had a wonderful season. Congrats to them, and I hope they lose quickly in all tournaments
We're only taking 1 at the most 2 receivers this year. He is not the guy Moorehead wants.
Cut WAY back on the police presence. It's like a prison. As an 8 year season ticket holder I gave that feedback directly to the athletic dept.
I agree. As much as they piss me off, you can't throw someone out of a football game for throwing a paper airplane. Don't get me wrong I like your idea, but it just needs to be a conscious effort by the students to let those people know that their efforts are much better served by screaming until they lose their voices. I don't think a lot of students realize how many games in lane stadium have been helped by fan noise. We don't win or lose games, but I've damn sure been at quite a few when we've helped.
I feel like any embarassment that might be incurred by dumping their mascot as he is crowd surfed is sufficiently covered by the fact it was happening while they were celebrating an ACC title. I have to give them props for that, they've had an excellent season.
It really is an outlier as far as defenses, as much as Paul Johnson's wishbone is on offense.
This has always been the cause of concern for me. We can safely assume that more dubious recruiters say GT players don't translate to NFL because of scheme, and so I also believe they say the same about our defense. Save for DBU graduates of course. That being said I am 100% in awe of Bud's genius and will follow him into hell.
Syracuse as well
This game makes me even more divided on if I want JJ back next year. I want him to have his third year, but a game where we were supposed to have a chance and got blown out (again).
I agree, I don't see the point of the bottom three teams from the ACC going to the Tourney just more chances for people to get hurt.
I just think the poor guy finally got a few good night's sleep.
Dude looked like a No-Doz ad for most of the season.

Hard times.
I personally think that the ACC Tournament should be limited to the top 12 teams at the most. Pains me to think we should even be allowed a chance at the ACC Tourney Title.

# | Men's BBall: Virginia Tech (9-19) at Maryland (15-14) at Comcast Center at 8pm ESPN3 I missed the first half (innertube water polo) but the second half was annoyingly bad. I personally hate it when you only have one guy crashing the offensive boards. Not team should need more than one player back after a shot, guys should be sprinting in from the 3 point line for rebounds.
In case anyone cares we are now guaranteed to play at 3:30 next Wednesday in the first round of the ACC tournament. Nothing is more painful than to see that UVA has clinched the 1 seed and we've clinched dead last.
Maryland 64 - Virginia Tech 47
Wow, we shot about 22% in the second half and managed a measly 18 points. It was the epitome of my other write up from today. Plenty of blame to go around, Eddie was 4-13, Wilson was 1-10 and Thompson 2-7. Just pitiful.
We started the game with a 3 min and 29 second drought before we got our first bucket.
We then had a 5 min and 34 second drought starting at the 8:19 mark in the first half.
Second half, we started with a 5 min and 12 second drought before JVZ got a layup.
Then some DejaVu, starting at the 8:19 remaining in the second half, a 5 min and 59 second drought. Four droughts totaling 20 mins and 14 seconds. OVER HALF THE GAME
Maryland was so far ahead in this one that everyone on their roster got into the game.
17 turnovers and we failed to get any of their players ever remotely into foul trouble.
As for Maryland, not hard to score 36 in a half when you hit six treys and have five dunks. 28 of your points right there. We did hold the Terps to 40% shooting and seven points below their average.
We have our last game of the season at Georgia Tech, which had looked to probably be a close game, but they just knocked off Syracuse tonight, so who knows what might happen. The game is at two pm on Saturday. The wall at the end of the tunnel is so close.

# | Bitter blog - Q&A: Loeffler talks run game, coaching continuity and stretching the defense Nick Offerman - Ron Swanson by day, semi pro breakdancer by night
This definitely was not happening circa 1995. I wish it had been though.
My orientation was a few junior/senior year students rounding up the freshman on the hall to the first home game. Showing us how to hide the booze, organizing the paint for "Go Hokies" on chests, yelling at us to stand for the entire phucking game, jumping like crazy, shaking keys, etc.
I like the idea of the orientation but really if you want better fans then make better fans in your time there. My friends and I would invite freshman every year to go with us for the first home game and do the same thing. I like to think it as your social responsibility to pay back to VT for the best 4+ years of your life.
Agreed. It's the new Crisco. Duck fat is pretty much a solid choice for anything that gets fried.
Hot. Turkey. Wings.
Really? Cool
They played it while I was at VT, but I had heard that they had to stop for some reason. I'm glad it's still being used.
Thanks +1
I don't think Lefty lacks coach speak. That's pretty much all he did last season. I think his pattern will be like this: Off-season give open answers without giving too much away. During season: coach speak.
this is simply amazing
Dude...it was a joke.
Yep. More seats don't mean more people. We ain't no field of dreams
