Yeah, I'm getting quite frustrated about this. All of our friends who have BMS season tickets down here plan on using their whole ticket allowance. We tried to get tickets that way. The Battle at Bristol website said general ticket information was supposed to be available at the end of the 2013 calendar year and it obviously wasn't. Has anyone tried asking the ticket office when they're going to sell? Unfortunately, knowing the Tennessee idiots here, the stadium will be more full of them... And they'll take cocky pride in it. Bristol ALWAYS tries to please the Tennessee fans. Always have. Tennessee's marching band preformed at the race this past year. If you watch the news (channel 11, channel 5, etc) they always show bias to Tennessee over Tech. It's thrown in our faces here and that's one of the reasons I can't stand their fans.
VT's ticket office needs to get on the ball. I want there to AT LEAST be 66,233 people jumping to Enter Sandman at the start of that game. It's a SUPER easy drive from Blacksburg to Bristol up I-81 and everyone who can come, needs to.
If I ever hear anything about tickets from anyone here in Bristol I'll let everyone know on here.
Can't argue that our recruiting strategy has improved, and that we have better overall recruiters on staff now. But with Stinespring as OC we pulled in a lot of talented players on offense. Consensus #1 prospect RB Kevin Jones, 5-star QB Tyrod Taylor, 4-star QB Sean Glennon, 4-star WR Eddie Royal, 4-star OL Shuman, etc etc. Eventually our offensive recruiting hit a dry spell as more and more years of mediocre offensive performances piled up to use against us. Combine that with an inadequate recruiting strategy (especially for OL) and Beamer made the changes.
I think it's unfair to say "under Stinespring's regime" as well. Beamer & Cavanaugh called the shots on recruiting strategies and Beamer is the one who kept O'Cain and Newsome on staff far far too long. (Sherman was a solid coach but didn't set the world on fire as a recruiter..)
What you're seeing now is both a product of 3 things
1) change in strategy (position coaches more involved in recruiting their positions, expanded territories, agressive about pursuing top prospects, not relying as much on just local talent which has up and down years)
2) Stinespring becoming the Recruiting Coordinator
3) New coaches hired who are younger and more recruiting saavvy than their predecessors. (as well as being better at coaching)
#1 is a direct result of #2 and #3.

The new AD can't do anything until March 1 I believe. I don't think Bristol will be handing them extra tickets soon. There are 2 years and 8 months still. No need to panic yet.
He's not going to uva. The whole Instagram thing was more of an insight than anything else he's done and UVA wasn't even considered. He said he was still interested in UVA because he promised his coach he would visit and he doesn't want it to be totally awkward after the Instagram thing.
And, frankly, Mike Farrell is the least accurate voice in recruiting for anything that remotely involves VT. It goes back 14 years with Farrell.
Say what? All the Redskins fans that I know have only good things to say about Taylor.
I think Cline almost certainly gets drafted, but he's not a wide receiver.
The article I read says he basically de-committed beacause Pruitt the DC that recruited him to FSU left and went to Georgia. We may be over thinking this

I doubt Stanford gets drafted. He's a good kid and will likely be a solid contributor, but he lacks any top tier playmaking attributes. Hands, route running, separation, deep threat speed, size, yrds after catch ability, etc. -- unfortunately he is no better than average at any of these things.
Compare him to Danny Coale. Even though Stanford's stats are a little better as a Frosh than Coale's, Coale was playing on a team that passed a lot less (almost as many passes completed in '13 vs thrown in '08). And IMO, Coale seemed to show more ability in a few of those playmaking necessities I mention above.
Plus I suspect as time goes on, with incoming recruits, Stanford is going to get relatively fewer touches rather than more touches.
After watching this he seems to be the perfect candidate to be the "President" of the Hokie Club for the next couple of years. Hire a an entergetic COO with marketing fundraising expirence to handle the internals and let KJ be the public face of the club it could even be a part time gig while he finishes his degree and starts his career
I could see him getting a masters at VT while being a GA (I believe the school pay for your masters if you are a GA) and then taking over lil' Beams spot when Shane moves on to a OC/HC job somewhere.

I too could understand FSU. I would be confused if he went to UVA. I look at ANdrew Brown and think: "So your good, you want to play early, you're good enough to do that, but going to UVA is like say that getting any better than you are now is not important. Because at UVA you are about as good now as you are ever going to get"
Plus +1000 for any Joey Phillips mention.
Id be ok if he went to FSu, just not UVA. NNadi has been so quiet in his recruitment. I have no clue which route he chooses
