It would be nice to have an Eddie Royal type returner again

using the auto-correct crutch isn't a viable excuse to me. There is no good reason why you can't review the text on your phone and fix it prior to posting. The only possible reason I can think of is that you're driving at the time of the post...and NOBODY should ever be doing things on their phone while they drive.

I just don't buy into the "I was using my phone, give me a break" excuse. Thousands of people are going to read what you write on-line. I just want Virginia Tech to be represented well. Using correct spelling and grammar can go a long way towards making us look smart and credible as a community. God knows we're all tired of hearing about how 'smart' and 'well educated' that other school is. Well I'm tired of that stigma and I hate when we give them easy-to-find reasons to call us dumb.

I don't see the harm in taking an extra second or two to review what you write prior to posting. Make sure it's correct and that it doesn't make you look like a dolt. I know there are very smart people on here who aren't masters of the English language. It doesn't matter how smart you are, when you can't convey the message appropriately your credibility goes flying out the window. We have ample resources at our fingertips to double check ourselves. Use them.

Dude, the Alumni can't even send email information out to Alumni Reps. There is no way they are going to be able to do it for HC.

I have been asking for contact info for Hokie's in China and Asia for YEARS, and they always say they don't have a database that has that information. Seriously. The Alumni Association and the HC need a complete overhaul. Fire everyone and bring in some great web company to design some Hokie social network thing. It's ridiculous how technologically inept these two groups are or seem to be.

"Well I'm tried of that stigma..."??

Dude, you're an awesome Hokie, and I love you. Now, if I was going to post something like this, I would get out the electron microscope to hunt down those grammar errors.

Lefty had known a family member or something (don't remember specifics) of Durkin's that had reached out to Lefty about Chris coming to VT

If the Powers that Be in the ACC were so worried about basketball, they would have negotiated a better TV rights deal with ESPN to get paid more for the second and third tier rights of our basketball games. Instead they basically gave them away.

I do agree however that Babcock's first big move needs to be find a new coach for the mens basketball team. His second move needs to be lighting a fire under whoever is responsible for fundraising in the Athletic Department.

Haha that's great. Who was it?

and mine are Chicago Maroon and Orange!!!!

I'm going to have to go back to his book and look at this again. He says stealing players is disrespectful; he doesn't like it done to him and he doesn't do it to others. You're right, if anyone continues to be interested in VT, they'll continue recruiting him and if he's committed and firmly so, we back off. But I have never heard of, or seen evidence of, any VT coach "cold-calling" a kid that's committed elsewhere to try to pry him away. I could definitely be wrong and/or misquoting here, but I'm fairly sure I'm not (though the cold I have is slowing my brain today).

Beamer, by rule, does not send new scholarship offers to players committed elsewhere unless that player reaches out to VT

That's the part that's not true - Beamer doesn't wait for the player to reach out to VT.

I think we're going to move Travon McMillian to DB, and probably Shawn Payne, both of whom are listed as athletes but played offense in high school.

This is a point the new AD can make to the administration that there can be more cooperation between the school and the Hokie Club. Yes, there would need to be rules set up but sending a once per quarter or half year on behalf of the Hokie Club directing alumni to a local chapter is not an abuse of an email.

I think that email on the behalf of the Hokie Club would basically have to have an opt in button that would forward their email to your local listserv of addresses.

Poking a little fun is appropriate, but the whole Grammar Police thing is getting kind of tired. Unless someone posts in total unintelligible txtspk, then just leave it alone.

And then... Wait for it... A well-timed bubble screen!!!

That doesn't conflict with what I said at all.

We lost yardage on 9 consecutive plays during that NC State game. I believe that was the first Stinespring hate week.

yeah the talent we had a receiver was better than what we had last year
